Right, I'm thinking of buying a nice projector soon and I need a hub unit to put all my video connections through. Basically I want several vid connections going in to one box and then an HDMI/DVI-D connection going from the box all the way to the projector. I know that a decent amp will do this but I'd rather not fork out for a new one as I'm quite happy with my existing one. Does a unit like this even exist?

I don't think that would work*; unless the connection is DVI/HDMI all the way from unit to unit then you won't get the performance benefit from the connection; e.g. DVD Player>S-Video>Hub>HDMI>Projector will be 'capped' by the performance of the S-Video link. Of course if you've got all HDMI/DVI connections and you're looking for an all DVI/HDMI hub, that would be different. I've seen hubs like that in the US (I saw one in Circuit City when I was in Canada last week), don't know if they're available in the UK yet (were about CDN $300 - £140).

*could be talking shit, but it seems logical.

Well, I'll have my DVD player which will be HDMI or DVI and my xbox which will be component (I assume that's what it uses for hi def). I understand about the s vid thing, but the point is to have a whole bunch of cables going a short distance to one box and then one longass hdmi going to the projector. If the source is low quality, I'm not bothered I just want to have one cable going to the projector and a main unit routing them all rather than getting loads of 15-20ft cables for each of my devices that I want hooked up.

Hmm, it's looking like I'm just going to buy several very long cables.
