VGA Converter

Playing console games on my lovely Sony 36 inch widescreen tv is a joy, however the wife usually decrees that Eastenders should be on rather than me playing Mario.

Having a scart to vga converter would allow me to sneak of to 'my room' whilst such offending programs as Eastenders, Holby, 2000 boring acres of skye...etc etc. and connect console* to my PC monitor.

I seem to remember that Lik-Sang had a RGB/Composite/Scart to VGA converter . (can't check as Lik-Sang seems to be down at this moment in time)

Has anyone had much experience using these products? Is the picture quaility up to much?

they are ok to play with but not brilliant. if you do decide to get one make sure it does pal 50hz correctly as some despite cliaming to do it proper dont. and its not a major issue if you have a crt monitor but you may have probs witc an lcd/tft screen why not just buy a second hand 14inc telly?

Yep. Had a wee look around and the only decent one according to reviews is the xrgb 2+ which is an upscan converter.

A bit pricy though as it starts at $225.

My solution is the following:

Buy 15inch tv for crap tv and stick it in the bedroom, which allows me to play my games on uber tv. I would like to get one of those 15 LCD TVs, but they are a bit pricey at the moment.
