VF 2 was fun, and VF 3 was ok, but then I discovered tekken, which was great. tekken 3 was brill too. then tekken tag *unf*. I reserved judgement on VF4 because people said it was good and stuff. I played it this weekend.. omg never a bigger pile of over hyped pap has there been.
Everyone talks about how great the graphics are, and at least on the playstation, they're SHIT. fucking lamo graphics, personally I prefer tekken tag's gfx, even though they're 'technically' worse. VF4 suffers from terrible blockyness (i believe the tech term is aliasing) and plays really really boring.
God, I find it quite amazing that people can say the VF series is better than tekken, vf doesnt even use motion capturing and it shows :/
You both take the argument too far. Tekken has it's good points. So does VF. Personally, from the brief gameplay I had on each of the latest installments, I think I will prefer VF but just cos someone else prefers Tekken don't make em a retard
I used to be a massive fighting game fan .. I've had em all....
The whole VF series, Tekken Tag, most of the SF series, Fighters Megamix, DOA2, Marvel vs Capcom 2, Marvel Super Heroes and the list goes on. But nowadays they don't really appeal to me (even though I'm *sorta* looking forward to playing VF4). In every single game it's 2 people standing looking at each other. Strong/Weak punch. Strong/Weak kick. 2 buttons together make a throw. They're all getting the same, and bore me to hell
Unless something really revolutionary pops up to reform the fighting game genre then I can't really see myself buying them again
the beat em up genre has been standing still on the same spot fer some time same prolly goes fer the FPS genre too. But everything in VF4 just seems rite when playing dunno if im the only one feeling this way
imho, I think there's a lot more to tekken 4 than that (I would say that though, being an avid follower of the series) but the fact is, you do need to give time to these games to get more depth out of them. You can't just sit down at them and get that unfortunately
I can see people enjoying playing Tekken, I mean I did once... for about 10minutes... It was also piss easy, and with 4 buttons on the PSX it felt bollocks....
Compared to VF2 with its 6 button config and better gameplay/more skillfull gameplay....
And what 0wned Tekken even more was Fighters Megamix.... I spent ages unlocking the characters and completing that game...
Was sooooo good
A huge array of characters with pretty much unique moves, huge amounts of moves per character, excellent controls system... it was just great....
I never managed to master BM's finishing combo tho.... it was like a total of 40 buttons.... To be pressed in a specific sequence rather fast
