Very Very Basic Networking Question

Can anyone of you lubbly gentlemen (and meh means this most sincerly, but also in the broadest context of the word) point me in the right direction to finding out how to network two pootahs, using one as a 24/7 connected to net using an asdl usb modem and taking all the processer usage freeing up meh main pootah processor to concentrate on fps.

(Soz bout such a long badly phrased sentence but av add one or two)

If it's just two computers then you don't need a hub. You need to get cross-over network cable though. You should be able to find it at computer fairs or something or even get somewhere like www.netshop.co.uk to make it for you to the required length.
After that you can either use windows' own Internet Connection Sharing or plonk something like winroute (www.winroute.com) on there to make things simple.
Winroute Lite is very straight forward to use. Not much room for error.
Then install some sort of firewall on the gateway Pc. Something like ZoneAlarm (www.zonealarm.com) and you're laughing.
I'm sure there's some sort of guide like that floating around BW somewhere too.
