Veron & Cole

Veron said that J Cole is the best player in the England Team and Ranieri said that Veron is the Best Midfielder in the WORLD.

Is there some sort of gas or summit that is leaking around Trampford Bridge or what?

They are both world class midfielders. I really am hating Man U for letting Veron go at the moment. English teams are blindly strenghtning Chelsea.

Veron is very good, especially towards the latter half of last season when he did get to play. I think he'll do well, and Cole's also a very good player. It's good to see that Chelsea have got three very good prospects for England - Terry, Bridge and Cole. Makes a change from the foreign legion!

I think Chelsea will win the FA Cup this season, and if they bring in a new striker I think they'll be challenging for the championship. Can't see Arsenal doing piss all this season, their new keeper will be suspended most of the time for stamping on peoples heads, and I have a sneaky feeling Vieira's on his way out.

I think it will be so funny when Mr Abrahomvic gets bored with his new toy. Chelski will be in a worse position then than they have ever been.

I am sure a good rendition of "where were you when you were skint" will rile those lovable rogues from the Kings Road.

I am particularly looking forward to the coming season. My ticket at OT is about 3 rows away from the away fans. 10 mins of "Have you ever seen Chelsea win the league ? have you fcuk" always works wonders on winding them up.

I dont think they will win the league. They were just staring to put a team together that were fighting for each other. All these new signings should have been done progresively. If nothing else it will cause disharmony in the dreesing room having so many superstars.

Or they'll win the premiership in a couple of years like Blackburn.

Money, unfortunatly, talks.

Maybe you speak out of a slight jealousy that Chelsea can seemingly buy anyone they like at present, whilst Man U are losing their 'stars' and failing to replace them? That and the fear that with more than one serious championship rival, it might be times up for the Man U domination?

Mind you I couldn't give a flying fuck about football to be perfectly honest, and freely admit to my ignorance in these matters. I'm looking forward to the World Cup in the autumn, can hardly wait!

Yeh like it did for O'Leary and Keegan and Gullit and Dalglish at Newcastle oh and yes Barcelona!

Cole is a V Good Player but please not world class YET! maybe soon and Veron not for the Premiership Im afraid as this is proven by his great form in the CL games.

And I shall also laugh when Abramovich will get bored ha ha

Those four you mentioned did have reasonable success in a number of competitions. OK not premiership titles, but certainly success above their previous stations. Barcelona kept getting beaten by Real didn't they? Real don't spend much do they?

Yup those guys got a lot of money for their teams over a while, This Russian guy has spent that sort of money in about three weeks, and he aint finished yet.

The thing about sport is it's impossibility to predict, but it might be fun to resurrect this thread in May or so next year.

Don't for a second think I am a Chelsea fan spouting all this shite, I really don't care about football, but I do find the way this chap is using a club as a toy quite fun really. That together with the way everyone else in football apart from Real and now Chelsea are a lot more cautious with their cash all of a sudden.

.

Read an interview with him, he is very intelligent and doesn't seem to consider it a toy. He had other options for which club to buy and obviously wants to make a success of it.

He could treat Chelsea as a portable toilet and it'll still be miles better than having Bates in charge.

I'd like to point out two small things.. Keegan almost WON the championship with Newcastle, and if he hadn't brought in Asprilla, opinion is he could well have done. Gullit and Dalglish are never to be mentioned in the same sentance. As Newcastle. Ever.
And Barcelona? You're really gonna get far when you piss your star player off like that aren't you? Rivaldo was clearly the biggest influence on the park in every game, sometimes taking them single-handedly to the win (only sometimes mind.. like 3, 4 matches?)
If you'll recall, once Loser Van Gaal was sacked, Rivaldo becaome even more influential, even improving his defensive side of the game. Then LVG came back and Rivaldo, a player rated at 30mplus at the time RESIGNED, he tore up his contract with 2 years (was it only two?) and walked out on the club, because he refused to work with him again.
And then look at LVGs second spell in charge, Barca haven't even gotten into the UEFA cup, when they're one of the biggest clubs in world history.
Newcastle United now, under Bobby Robson are undergoing a revival after spending millions. I think that the money itself makes no difference, it's the manager/coaching staff and scouting teams getting accurate reports on players.
Charlton are the perfect example, how much have they spent in the last 3 seasons? 10mil? I don't think they even spent that much. They did incredibly well last season.
Liverpool spent millions and still did no better than any other year. I think there that Gerard Houllier has taken the reds as far as he can :(
