Yes and no.

Vent uses Wave/MP3 output the same as DAoC and mp3 files do so MP3s are a no no, unless you have a multi output channel card like an SWG Yamaha card for Wave/MP3 - unlikely as they tend to be used for music software and cost a bomb. And are shit for games :p

Anyway, it's possible with music from CDs. Here's how, generally speaking.

Open up the volume control windiw - in WinXP :
Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > Entertainment (usually)

You should see Play control and some slider bars. You should see Wave/MP3 and CD Digital.

If you don't, go to Options > Propeties and make sure the bullet is in Playback, then make sure Wave/MP3 and CD Digitial are ticked in the list below, then click ok.

Back at the slider bars, slide CD Digital all the way to the left where it says Balance, and Wave/MP3 all the way to the right - or whichever side you like.

Close the box, and that's it.

Again, MP3 isn't possible really as it shares an output as far as the Sound card is concerned. You could use a second sound card and an output divider cable (two ear plugs, two sound cards, two ears)

i play mp3s with media player on the same system and just lower the volume, this keeps them to a level where you can hear vent over mp3s, but still hear mp3s. Also, i have +10 to inbound volume on vent.

Works fine for me, always has

Music in 1 ear (mono) and sound effects in the other (mono too) would drive me absolutely crazy!!

It's not necessary to do that anyway so :p

Is incorrect :twak:

You can do this trick with balance, just turn the balance on winamp to the right, and the balance of ventrilo to the left,

note: i dont know if you can even control balance in ventrilo, and cba to check.

but this would be the easiest way to do it

what i would be interested in, is it possible to make a plugin for winamp that turns down winamp volume when someone is talking on vent and turns it back up when noone is talking?
