My comp keeps rebooting itself when playing daoc.. i have format c: and re-installed everything.. latest drivers for my radeon 9800 pro etc, but that have not helped.

I did not have this problem when I played before.. but then i took a break for some months, and now when i should start to play again, all this shit happens ;C

P4 2ghz, radeon 9800pro, 512ddr, crappy 5400rpm hdd. Using Win XP.

wHYYyyyyyyyyy does it reboot all the time? :(
Impossible to do MLs etc...

Any thoughts?

Any error displayed in your even viewer?
You can disable system reboot on crash and try to catch what causingthe reboot.

Go to System properties -> advanced -> start up and recovery and uncheck Automatically restart in the System failure area.

My guess your reboots are due to oc, heat or driver related.

Not oc (if that means overclocking).. havent overclocked anything :p
But I've thinked of the heat-thing also... but wierd that it should start now.. its not heater now than it was 5months ago when it worked perfectly.

But I'll try what u said about the system properties etc, at work now so cant try atm ;C

Thanks :)

Try turning fast writes off on the gfx card.
Had to do that with mine but its apparently a common fault on my 9600XT not sure about 9800s but its worth a try.

to rule out an overheating cpu etc, hardware fault you can leave your computer in bios mode, see if it reboots after a while there.

also you could consider running an exhaustive 3dmark test, seeing if that reboots your computer.

Should help you isolate it a bit further to find out if its just happening in daoc, and if its a software or hardware fault.

The problem with this is DAOC takes the processor to its limits, a working processor will get hotter quicker than one sat at the BIOS screen, you could try using some kind of monitoring software such as :-

http://mbm.livewiredev.com/

this could help diagnose the problem.

Thanks for the respons.. I got a tip from a friend to install the oldest driver for my radeon that i could find.. so i re-installed it with the driver that came along with the CD.
I logged in daoc and played for 5mins.. and it rebooted... then i lowered the cpu-speed from 2020mhz to 2000mhz in bios... and logged in daoc again.

Then i could play all night without the comp rebooting.. dunno if it is the older drivers who did it possible, or that i lowered the mhz by 20.. i mean.... 20mhz .. wierd :p And it did reboot one (only one thou) time after i re-installed oldest driver.

Hope it will work today as well :D

Thanks.
