Hola, my pc is utterly fucked... thnx

dont suppose anyone could give me a hand

spec:
mobo : abit kt7a
cpu: duron 1ghz
ram: 2*256mb (pc133)
graphics: geforce2 mx pci
soundcard: some old thing sb 128? got it off a m8 not too sure
ethernet: 3com 10/100 not sure again got it off m8.

now aint too shit with pcs but i am absoloutely stumped here.

my pc just randomly turns itself off. but not off completely, cpu fan keeps on going but screen goes blank adn i get no responce from pc at all. if i switch it off it then doesnt switch on again. For a while if i unplugged the psu then plugged it in again it would sometimes switch back on but it was pretty random as to when it would decide to work again. it sstarted happening more and more frequently. now it will barely ever switch on. and when it does it switches off again within minutes. its really starting to piss me off, the cpu isnt overheating it at fine temperatures and besides it worked for months with the same setup before it started doing this.

any mor einfo you need just ask ive proabbly missed some stuff out as i am in a rush.

Same thing happened to me a while back.

Could either be 2 things :

1. The NIC is KNACKED . I removed mine (dont use it) and the PC has been working fine)

2. Gfx Card. Mine wasnt seated properly.

I would reckon on 1 above - it sounds the same problem I had.

Kempo, I had exactly the same problem that you describe. Exactly the same.

I spent ages trying to find the cause, but in the end I flipped open the case and found that the power lead plugging into the motherboard wasn't quite seated properly. It seems sufficient power was being supplied sometimes but would just cut out, leaving the drives powered on but not the motherboard.

Check this, Kempo. Sometimes the most random and complicated problems are caused by the most obvious things.
