`yep i have tried and it worked just fine as long as you've got all the good drivers for your hardware
for instance when i got win 2k for the first time i couldn't run UT cause my vid card drivers weren't optimized for win 2k , i could run other games but not UT
but the framerate usually doesn't go up when u use win2k
So it is possible but win 98 is just better as a platform to play games on.(not saying that win2k isn't but this is my experience):)

I'm using Win2k atm with Voodoo 5 5500 and it r0x0rs. What's the spec of your machine and what version of drivers are you using for the vid and sound?

i had ut running fine [428 patch] on w2k. all drivers specially dl'd, even if w2k had it's own built in. i had dl'd and installed servicepack1 and directx8 too.

the pc was a bp6/2x cellery 433 with 384 megs ram. graphics driven by a gforce ddr pro with latest nvidia detonator w2k drivers.

i did have probs with halflife until i patched as far as it would go.
also afaik the 'need for speed' series will not run [but that's hear-say :)]

To run UT decently on win2k you need at least 192megs of RAM, with preference laying in 256megs. If you have this much RAM, a little tweaking here and there (along with a suitable spec machine) and UT should work great.

Try turning your graphical details settings right down, as a Cely 300 and v1 can't handle much. :)

Ahh. Those were the days of the Voodoo 1. I had the Orchid Rightous, the best V1 board that was ever made :)

the problem may be that there are no win2k voodoo1 drivers available from 3dfx. the latest drivers afaik are dx6 q3 compatible drivers released around may '99 for win9x. i did run UT under win98se with a voodoo1 for a brief while and performance was good in 512x384 with everything turned down under glide.

anyway i think the crux of the problem may be that the voodoo1 doesnt have proper glide/d3d/ogl drivers under win2k, either natively or via download. my advice would be to change to WindMill or buy a new gfx card, a v5-5500 should run UT very nice, or a cheap voodoo3 if your on a budjet
