When I try plugging any usb device on, my computer simply refuses to detect it. I've tested several different devices, so its not about them. Also tried all 6 USB ports, all the same. The ports are enabled in BIOS. Downloaded all windows update fixes, updated mobo USB drivers and pretty much everything possible.. No luck :|

Found this article about USB detection issues on XP and it looks pretty much like my problem: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q314634
I tried following the instructions there but the key "HKEY_LOCAL_Machine\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Usb" doesn't exist \o/, found a bunch of other keys starting with "usb*" and tried adding that value into all of them. Even made a new key named "Usb" and added it there... doesn't work :|

Not very sure of this, but I belive this started happening after my PSU & DSL box decided to blow up (lightning or something), got them replaced but didn't seem like anything else was damaged..

Did you try reinstalling Windows?

I have problem with USBs on my sis computer too - it works works works and suddenly good bye and mouse does not work. Same with USB pen drive. I took mobo, slapped seller with it, got new mobo, and guess.... it's doing the same. Strange is nothing was changed in hardware of computer, mobo is Asus and worked more than 100% good for almost 2 years. Reinstalling Wins did not help.

You upgraded from another OS to XP or the problem just popped in XP after a certain time ?

When you upgraded, it is possible you need to update the bios from the mobo. Had this problem before with some HP computers, verry annoying :)

and usb is teh soook imo :/
