OMG! How could I possibly have missed the bigger picture! So glad you pointed out our culture is clearly in jeopardy! Someone should do something! Quick, revive British Coal!

From the very source you posted @Job

Some 55% of Syrians want Assad to stay, motivated by fear of civil war

That doesn't mean they support him; it means that they're sick to death of this civil war, so they'd rather have the brutal dictator back.

You know the argument I made about 99.9% of the human population (including the people who live in ISIS controlled territory, and don't really care that they control it) who just want to be able to get on with their lives, and don't really give a fuck who's in charge?

Yeah.

You're supporting that argument, ty.

Yes..who would, though some do, but its not a rubble heap is it.
Its a vibrant country..just search youtube for videos from syria, you will see war zones, because that makes good tv, but the country is doing very well and people support Assad because he is their only chance of not being run over by fucking crazy rebels who we supported.
The fact that a US Yemen raid last week killed a 130 men women and children is quickly brushed under the carpet...and anyway Assads forces are still bombing the area today.
Its all a frucking joke.

Thats exactly what the media does...pick out certain areas to give the impression some crazed dictator is bombing the fuck out of the country.

That post could be a Daily Mail article.

By 2015, the movement of tourists had declined by more than 98%. The Syrian Ministry of Tourism claimed that 45,000 tourists visited the country in the first half of 2015, but these figures were disputed by observers, according to the Syrian Economic Forum, which stated that Iranian religious tourism was all that remained. According to a 2015 article in The Telegraph, hotels by beaches in the Mediterranean coast in Tartus and Latakia still received internal tourists and one hotel was "full" in the summer of 2014 and 2015.

Wikipedia woot.

Well obviously foreign tourists are gonna drop it like a turd sandwhich..if only because of the media agenda to make it out as a entire warzone.
And tbh..who the fuck would go there unless you knew the area well.

William Hague in the Telegraph with an article headline.
'Russia is a country in decline and we should treat it as such' .

WTF is going on in politics in the last week...there seems to be a mass lunacy breaking out.

Is the reasoning sound?

I mean its not unheard of to use saber rattling and foreign disputes to distract the home crowd from their own issues

Jesus.

It's OK though, he probably meant something completely different, something about aircraft carriers. Or something.
