Yeah me too Obli..

A Question for those out there that have been on dragon raids.
I have been on 3 well planned dragon raids (well over 100 people), but each time we used some tactic that we wouldnt dare try in pve. Namely :-

a). Bringing along rubbish weapons we wouldnt otherwise use (non proc etc).
b). Forgetting that Nukers/Dotters etc are actually rather good at doing damage to stuff.
c). Making groups that have no healers, and consist of 8 mages or solo tanks without pbt etc, and telling healers not to heal.

If some bright spark suggested that going exping, you would wonder about his sanity!

Have we ever just tried Zerging the damn thing with model rvr / pve groups in large numbers? Is it possible that its our over-estimation of Culdarach that leads to our downfall....?

I have seen his ewul aoe spam, but we seem to lose to the adds rather than the lizard himself and to me that just points at weak add groups, probably cause all the Tanks are off looking for 5 seconds of glory and mr Healer is wasting all his mana rezzing instead of healing.

Heres my suggestion :)
All goto EZ in as good pve groups as our guilds can make.
All stand well back from the dragon, and deal with adds.
Two groups only attack the dragon at any one time.

This provides stronger defence against the adds, and limits the damage the dragon can do in one AOE (ideally the 2 groups should attack the lizard from opposite sides).

Plus as a realm we have a lot more experience level 50s now, strength of numbers should win over any skill given enough people (just ask teh Alb Zerg).

Im no expert, but after a few dragon raids, this seems to be the case:

unfortunately zerging the dragon = quick release back to Howth

In answer to :
A) Procs set of its dd
B) Magic sets of its dd
C) Healers healing fighters in the zone causes, guess what, its dd to spark as well

As far as the idea for groups taking turns to fight dragon/deal with adds, nice idea, unfortunately i doubt 2 balanced groups (i.e. 3-4 fighters per group, 8 max total for 2 groups) wouldnt do much dmg to the dragon, 1 heal or bolt and wipeout.

Definitely agree that we have a LOT more lvl 50's than the last raid, and with SC armours, i agree that we as a realm can take this big lizzard.

Lots of peeps say the dragon is bugged now, what do they mean and is this true?

So you rather have all mobs to be push overs and not have a challenging mob that requires some thought, teamwork and discipline?

Id prefer all realms dragons to be EQUALLY difficult.

Alb dragon raid : 10 groups of any layout turn up. All rush in and hit it with no plan. Dead dragon in a minute.

Hib dragon raid : 20 groups specifically laid out with set tasks turn up. Attack as closely to plan as possible considering all the organisation problems. 20 groups of dead Hibs in a minute.

So youve got alb crafters salvaging dragon gear because everyone who wants an item already has 2 of it spare in their vault. And youve got ZERO Hibs wearing anything off a dragon.

Thought indicates that you would have some sort of clue what to due by researching, seen as this is a game you would think any clues to beating the dragon would be in the game.

Im all for challenging mobs but making something with no idea of how to kill it so it takes you months and months of tried and failed strategies to me just seems like a crap way of introducing a challenge to a game

I read a while ago on warcry that if you kill the glacier giant moments before you attack the dragon it puts out his fire for a while. Intrestingly enough no-body opposed or recoqnised this obviously matter of fact point but continued to post after it.. Im also told that he now drops a rather nice hooded cloak..

just an ex-player trying to point you in a new direction :D

neither of those has turned out to be true. if you get aggro from the dragon and are out of reach from his melee attack he will cast his DD on you. procs dont set it off and magic/healing doesnt either. however, if a tank hits the dragon for 3 damage and then the healer cures 340 hp on that tank - the healer will get aggro and the dragon will aoe him (unless the healer is also in DD range). THAT is why healers are told to only use rez. casters can use all the magic they want to as long as they cast it from within melee range of the dragon (pointless though, 99% of all spells are resisted anyway so unless you got GTAOE its better to just use the staff or focus on adds).
