Urban Terror: Protocol 66??

Hi i download the beta 2.0 65mb version of Urban Terror and then the 2.0 to 2.3 update, also about 65mb.

Yet when i try to play it keeps saying 'server uses protocol 66'

Can someone explain what on earth this means? And how I can get whatever or do whatever i need to - thanks

This is due to the version of Quake 3 you are running. Can't remember the specifics, but I run 1.27h, and get on the BW servers fine.

Try re-installing Quake 3, patch to 1.27h, and then install Urban Terror 2.0, then 2.3 - you should be able to get on the BW servers then.

1.29 is beta.

1.27g was the last non-beta point release.

1.30 is due 'soon' (good old id )

dunno what there playing at, first 1.29 was released as beta and never made final and now there skipping 1.29 and moving to 1.30 .... most likely because of the delay in 1.29 and the fact they dont want to look stupid theyve just renamed 1.29 final to 1.30 final to save face.

Well, they did the same from 1.17 to 1.27 - the numbers are more for their use than ours. 1.18 to 1.24 were internal releases, then they released 1.25 as a beta with no source, which sank like a lead baloon. We missed 1.26 and 1.28, and now 1.29 is out as beta while they get it stable enough for a release

try filtering out the servers so only those relating to your installed point release show up.

the all seeing eye is a fantastic new alternative to gamespy3d.

Don't think BW realised that Id are waiting for BW to update to 1.29 before going to 1.30

Barrysworld done no favours for Q3 in the Uk since... nuff said. Always excuses, I can remember the hassle of trying to get the Alliance servers updated, never happened. The rest of the world seems to have it right tho using 1.29 . Not particularly inspiring if they ever decide to go pay per play.
