Has any 1 heard o' these foaf lore tales? and if so is there any truth to 'em?
A friend of a friend brought a set of <brand X> speakers for his (rather rubbish) rig. This snazzy setup included a subwoofer the size his monitor. Any way, this dude/dudette hooks them all up, and to silence critiscisms that he should have speant his dosh on a better graphics card/ processor, he/she puts Korn/ Rage against the machine/ Alice Cooper on at full volume. Now, the ending differ-
A. Vibrations from the subwoofer cause his/her cd drive to skip and the drive mechanic to fail, destroying the whole thing
B. Having forgotten that the mic is still connected, a massive wave of feedback breaks. this is so high pitched our protagonists monitor screen cracks.
C. (this is th most plausible)the track that is playing is MP3, straight of the hard drive. The vibrations from the subwoofer, however, are so great that is causes a drive head crash, anihilating the PC.
Number two...
A friend of a friend is an avid UT/Q3/CS player, and goes to some web site to download some maps. A few day latter his computer comes down with a classic CiH viri infection. the flash rom on his mobo is anhilated, but he salavages his hard drive and sends it to a foaf of a foaf who is systems admin for some anti virus company. He traces the infection not to a .exe, but to one of this other guys new ut/q3/cs map files!
