Found this on another forum. Predictably, many of the responses were of the severly mentally retarded variety (if I was like that I'd kill myself etc), myself I found it a heart-warming story of a family's love for their daughter, and how they found the strength to give their daughter the best life they possibly could.

And being an optimist, I think (if she wants it) technology will have advanced so much by the time shes 20 she could have a reasonably normal face.

Do you think that it'll matter by the time she is 20 though? Genuine question. I assume by that age your personality has been almost completely crafted. You have to wonder what kind of psychological effect this could have on anyone, born this way or not.

It's easy for the 'touched' to cry "I'd kill myself" but what would you really do in this position? I wouldn't want sympathy or concerts for a start. I'd want people to leave me alone. We all know the majority of people make judgments based on appearance. How many people will give her the chance she deserves?

I try to keep and open mind and not to be overly cynical but not many people will ever look at her for who she is other than her parents.

I read that as Tom meaning that if he was as retarded as those who posted comments he'd ... :D

Personally, I think some parents can try too hard to see things if there is some obvious obstacle to it, and that baby may hve a hard time finding substance in what anyone says as she grows up. Though if we breed abother generation of chavs it is not going to matter.

What a sad story :(

I seen something similar to this before with a kid born with major problems with his structure.

Im sure this wee girl will try her best to make the best of the situation, however I cant help but feel that society will mould her into a timid, tortured soul :(

The way things are going in the world today theres so much hatred and evil in the world that theres very little place for kind hearted people nowadays

Makes you feel lucky that things are going well for you and ill be thinking of this wee lass the next time i moan about something that means fuck all in the grand scheme of things

cheers tom

I saw this aswell and i found the movie very adoring.

The only real problem for her is outside society i think. However shes fortunate to have parents who love her very much cause i think they will help her deal with the cruel outside world.
