Upgraded system and WinXP won't boot

Ok, so I upgraded my old pentium 3 system to a pentium 4. I was hoping that my installation of Windows XP would still work - but it doesn't. I get a blue screen on boot which tells me to check my disk configuration and run chkdisk.

Does anyone have any ideas that might help get it working again? Or is the only answer a new install of windows XP.

Any help appreciated!

One other option would be to wire up the drive to your old mobo - just H/Drive and video, when XP boots, de-install all drivers related to hard drives, controllers, etc, and then wire up to your new setup - should re-discover the hardware.

All the lads on the boards reckon its better to do a clean install with new mobo/CPU - know you probably didn't wanna hear that :(

Are you POSITIVE that your drive configuration matches what it was on your previous mobo? ie. Is your system drive still on IDE1, or whatever it was on before?

Try Windows XP Recovery. Should be able to find the boot partition.
