Upgrade/overhaul!

Hi guys.
The time has come for me to have a complete overhaul in the computer department. I'd really apreciate some input off you guys.
At the moment my system is as follows...

K6-2 450 @ 475
Erm..I think the MB is a Asus 59Pro or something
Generic ATX case (250W I think)
128MB PC-100 Ram
Voodoo2
TNT2 M64
Combo DVD-CDRW drive
SB Live! Value
14" Monitor up to 1024x768 res
30 gigs of HD space (UDMA/33 I think)
Pace 56k Modem (ISA)
3COM PCI 10/100 NIC


What I'd really like is for you guys to give me a little help on upgrading. I do have a certain budget but if it costs more, I guess I just wait if it means I get quality rather than playing catch up ALL the time.

The bits I'm pretty sure about buying so far are...

Abit KT7A motherboard (need that ISA slot for modem)
Athlon 1.2 ghz
Another stick of either 128 MB or 256 MB ram (what speed?)
New case (what case?)

I know it's asking alot but I'm planning to spend money I can't really afford right now but my computer is bugging me to hell. What I'd really like is for you guys to list recommended specs for a new machine below and recommendations for dealers too. Do I get rid of the graphics card? Keep it for now till GeForce 3? etc etc.

Case: I like the Globalwin 802 which u can get from Overclockers UK (bah) with a 300 watt psu.

Gfx card: TNT2-m64 will hamper a 1.2gig Athlon big-stylee. Get a GF2 MX at least. GF3 is gonna be waay too expensive for a while yet.

I usually get all my stuff from Dabs although I've heard they're not as quick on delivery atm due to low stocks.

Hmm, why not save money and get one of those Tbird AXIA 1 ghz chips from

These are the most overclockable chip around atm - people seem to be able to get 1.4 ghz+ out of them with just normal cooling.

For the KT7A motherboard you have chosen go for pc133, CAS2 at least. (especially if you want to overclock)

I got a Globalwin802 with Macron 300w psu from http://www.theoverclockingstore.co.uk myself and am extremely happy with it. Plenty of room, all thumbscrews, removal mobo tray, lots of drive space.

In terms of a graphics card, there is no point in getting a 1ghz plus system and staying with what you have. I think the geforce3 will be probably too expensive at its release for the relative benefits involved. The GF2 family has fallen in price recently though and there are some bargains to be had. You should be able to get a regular GF2 for £150 at any of the sites above, a GF2 pro for £200 and a GF Ultra for £275. The GF2 Pro is probably a good price/performance compromise, it will play all current games and is overclockable to Ultra speeds.
