Unstable DAoC after patch

after downloading the patch, DAoC keeps performing illegal operations and freezing up. no problems like this before patch. Anybody have any suggestions or in the same situation?

edit: Using win98, dx8.1, latest gfx card + mobo drivers etc. Came up this last time it crashed if this helps:

edit: upgraded to 9.0a not 9.0
