unstable connections

This could be a really good game if it wasnt for my crap connection, ok Im using a crap connection (ISDN) but we havent had broadband installed in this area yet (its on my christmas list).
My connection fluctuates between 90 and 860 sometimes depending on the map. If we change map my ping can just change of its own accord. Connection to UK servers seems to be worse especially all the EA servers. I get a better connection joining a game hosted in France, Norway and Germany. Any ideas anyone?

The fact you get better connectivity to BF42 servers in other countries would suggest it's your ISP's routeing at fault.

Well, that or the UK is just crap at running decent BF42 servers .

Good point Athan. Can you do a tracert for us and paste it here (if you are using the command line one, use

 tags so it formats correctly.

Also if you are using ISDN, (like me), set your connection speed in BF1942 to 56k, works much better.

You do have to bugger about a bit to make sure it stays where you set it, i.e. join a game successfully using the ingame browser not ASE or whatever, when you have changed it, and quit using the menu not just the console.

Worked for me anyway.
