I dunno. No one seems to be able to do it right. XBox controllers are a partial improvement on "the past" by having pressable sticks for crouching, but you'll never be able to get enough buttons on them, and whether they'll ever let you make scripts for console FPS games is also debatable.
I hadn't heard anything much about UC gameplay, but to be honest if they have designed it to reduce up down then it's probably a good thing. It means you can play the game better on the limiting controllers most console gamers are stuck with. There's no point reproducing PC FPS on consoles directly cause you can't play them right. It has to be best to make the game suit the system.
Think I'll buy this. Should be fun. Obviously I'll get UT2003 as well
Controls on Halo were actually pretty good. Doesn't compare to a mouse but after playing the new Medal of Honour game on PS2 it makes you glad of the XBox pad. The PS2 analogue sticks seem to have a huge dead-zone which makes precise movement/aiming almost impossible
Halo controls are as good as they get for console FPS'en....
timesplitters on PS2 was abominable, i just couldn't do it... it's made me totally avoid FPS on that format..... hell even the first person aiming in MGS2:SOL is a tad pants....
