Anyone else found that they just don't sleep when they come to uni? I mean I slept for 10 hours last night but then I didn't sleep the night before and now I'm not sleeping tonight either... it's really weird I don't feel tired yet either... yet it's nearly 6am

When I was at university I slept an average of 4-5 hrs a night... now, 5 years after leaving, I can rarely sleep for longer than 5-6 hrs without waking.

Unless I'm pretty damn tired, of course... I slept for 16hrs solid on Sunday after I got back from our little FC get-together in London last weekend! ;)

I don't sleep much in general due to various reasons. But I agree, at uni I sleep far less than at home.

I sleep less. Which in a way is good, its better to go to bed imo at 1 than at 11 even when waking up at the same time.

However, this last week things have gone crazy with cousework to hand in before christmas. The earliest i've been to bed has been 3am, the latest 5.
Thankfully its finished now though! :D

How are you finding Southampton?

Went down there to visit Mike (Jilson) the other week, we got trashed at the Academy. He lives right near it.

Its wierd, Uni has completely screwed up my body clock also. Some nights I won't sleep, other nights I'll crash at 6pm or like last night I'll be out 'til 3 and up at 9 not really feeling tired. I'm going to pay for it soon though :|

Won't be sleeping tonight either, programming coursework deadlines :(

when i was at uni i was lucky if i managed 5 hrs sleep, i think it was due to cheap beer and loose women lol

we used to arrive on campus at 9 get breakfast then go classing till lunch then the union then classes till 4 then the union until shutting time rofl, until i got a night job :(

now im no longer a student i need at least 7 hrs sleep or i end up sleeping for 12+ hrs lol

Yer been to all the main clubs n pubs there, I visit quite a lot.

Mike's halls were pretty damn good in the first year, some new tower block things, couldn't tell you the name of the road.

While we are on the subject of Uni's i was wondering if anyone went to any of the following Uni's and could tell me what they are like (Academically and Socially)

Lancaster,
Hull,
Nottingham Trent,
Salford,
Reading,
Swansea.

Cheers

I've applied to study at all 6 but ofcourse can only choose one so any advice would be welcome :)

My only advice is don't go to Hull as its an utter shit hole. (Don't live there btw, just had the mispleasure of visiting it once). Also nottingham is abit of a hole too tbh but has some pretty good clubs. Can't comment on the rest, but good luck!

Hey,

I've been to Southampton and Guildford universities as of recent. (Guildford last week - was playing Surrey Stingers at American football)

Didn't do much in Surrey, just stayed at the playing grounds next to the hospital and went into the pub above the changing rooms there.

Southampton looked quite nice, didn't get too close to the university though, we went into a pub called "The Square" or something (near KFC if it helps), that place was pretty nice... makes a change from the Canterbury scenery.

Guildford uni is socially SHITE.

UTTER...UTTER...TWAT.

£15 to get into "The Drink" on a Saturday night, chance of getting mugged 10%.

Fucking expensive everywhere. The uni is a brick.

Nottingham I like, good choice of clubs. Southampton also loads of clubs and pubs. Reading not explored much, my gf goes to that uni and I have a great time.

oh yes! :D
*sticks to floor*

Jesters is something like the worst night club in briton, and it only got to 1 because the previous no. 1 closed :D

Yeah the square is nice, had a Law social there, their cocktails are nice there, although generally more expensive than the rest of the student holes! Having said that, if you think the square isn't pricy, try the orange rooms :X

I dont know if you've tried the Hobbit eggy, its nice, and does some neat LotR cocktails, you can drink a Gandalf! ;)

Anyway, home for chrimbo now!
