Undervolting.

I tried reducing the voltage for my p4 from 1.525 to 1.475 today, still stable as anything but with 7 degrees lower temps at full load.

Next trick, to OC and undervolt at the same time.

Anyone else pushed their P4 voltage down?

i never bothered fiddling with my P4 since it was the celeron and those were crabby when you tried to do anything except fiddle with the FSB speed (which was pointless as the board auto-detected upon boot the best setting)

id guess if you took it up in speed you might need to return the voltage to the original setting or you might not have enough power for the CPU to run properly.

but then i could be wrong.

Overclocked to 215 FSB and its still stable, the temps are about 5 degrees lower than when I overclocked to this speed at default vcore. Might try and push it down a bit lwoer still and test the stability.

I'm guessing you know that you won't be able to get as much out of a cpu by overclocking when you've reduced the voltage.
