aye I watched that tonight
One thing I love about Horizon - you end up wanting to ask more questions that the program tried to provide an answer for (or not in the case of theoretical physics)

I remember watching the one in the 80's when they put forward string theory. My head hurt to think about it for days afterwards. :)
I forgot about it until string theory joined the list of "accepted" theories.

I thought the Horizon program was okay, but seemed more interested in trying to show a red balloon filling up in slo-mo. :)
Seriously though, the content seemed approachable but lacking in depth. Dark matter and dark energy I've heard about and been following for a few years. Dark flow? It got mentioned and then pretty much glossed over.

How small is an atom?

One angstrom - thats one ten-billionth of a metre, 10 to the negative 10

how small is that?

an atom is to an apple.....as an apple is to the Earth

the nucleus of an atom is 10 to the negative 14, or 10,000 times smaller than the size of the enitre atom

most of an atom is empty space

you gotta love the simplicity of the Standard Model equation:

(H is the Higgs particle that physicists are trying to find in the Cerne LHC)

Bah, there's plenty of H's in that picture. Stop looking!
