i can see both sides of the argument really.
on the one hand, the fire brigade would probably have to pay some sum of money to his family if he died. if he also died trying to save one person, hes no longer available to save anyone else. though if they fire him, he still wont be about.
on the other, someone was going to die and he was happy to risk him self which is admirable.

Wow is that ever fucked up.
They say he should have used poles and rope and then went on to state that the apliances there were NOT equipped with them if they do anything other than commend this man on his bravery they seriously need droping in a river.
The brigade’s rules state: “Personnel should not enter the water.” The fire crew should instead have tried to haul the woman out using poles and ropes. <-- he said he put a safety harness on and a rope but the rope snapped... so he's being done because they issues shitty equipment Oo
like the man said th he's a caring human being he couldnt just stand there and watch someone die tbh, everyone is so frigging scared about geting sued these days its a joke, at ASDA we are told in no uncertain terms "if someone has a heart attack do not attempt to help them unless you are a first aider" never mind the fact that there have been several days where there have been no first aiders on duty...
a bloke had a heart attack in a different store and the staff worked for ages to keep him alive until the ambulance got there by doing CPR, without them he would have died...
the man when he recovered then promptly sued the guys wh saved him because he got a cracked rib Oo tbh RATHER A CRACKED RIB THAN DEAD YOU SHIT!!!
