Unable to load thrown room

Hi all, although I have put in a RightNow for this problem I was wondering if anyone knew of a quick solution...

I have installed and Patched Darkness Rising
Updated my account Subs with a Valid DR CD Key
Account shows as DR Active.
I logon to DAOC using the DR Client, Shortcut
Logon to character
Go to trainer, speak to them about Darkness Rising.
Obtain a Champion quest.
Go to Royal Guard in Alainn Cuir, click Yes
I get ported into the Thrown Room but all I get it my Quick Bars and it loads a blank screen.
I then cannot log-off via /quit
I cannot use /stuck to port me out of the instance.
Blank screen and all I can hear is splashing water when I move or try to quit, which sounds like a bad load...

Rebooted several times, inbetween this I have reinstalled and redownloaded the Catacombs and Darkness Rising Patches. Every time I logon and try this, same thing happens every time (apart from Activate patch > speaking to NPC)

Any ideas why this won't work? :puke:

If you read up, I have tried this several times... nothing

Click the "do a complete file check" when you update.

Check you have a compatible graphics card.

Try changing the resolution/detail settings.

Delete \newtowns\ folder (if you have one), repatch with complete file check.

If you don't, make the folder and update.

mythic said DR has a problem with some graphics cards, and you need to get the right drivers, search mythics knowledge base etc should help u

well, could have said try and contact GOA via Right now, but thats just about as usefull as my first advice

Have done "do a complete file check" (just) and came back with nothing.

Graphics card work on US Darkness Rising, loads Thrown room fine on those servers / client, just not EU Client

Tried changing the Resolution / Detail.... nothing changed...

What spec graphics card, which drivers and what version of DX are you running?

Well I have tried this on (not long tried so will reboot before trying again) a Nvidia 6600 GT and also a 6200. Downloaded latest drivers from Manufacturer, no change. DX9.0c I think.

After some checks I can port into the CL2 Task Dung with a group so it only appears to be an issue loading the Thrown Room at the moment.

It sounds like you don't have the graphics files installed properly for DR; a bit strange as your complete file check doesn't show it up.

I'm not sure how fast the updater is working at the moment, or how speedy your connection is, but might be worth completely reinstalling and patching.

I can't check my files etc as I'm not at home.

First, thanks for the help so far eggy :)

Anyway, yeah I tried to check line... I can run US DR fine, have even tried patching the US version in a hope it might just be a corrupt install but nope... nothing :( Connection is fine, changed modem with a spare incase.

I'm re-downloading DR on another machine at the moment, seeing if that resolves the issue.

Backup your update.dat file from EU.

Delete EU folder.

Make copy of US folder.

Put EU update.dat in copied folder.

"Update" with full file check, this will roll you back (I hope) to EU version.

Try it again.

Well, I tried it... didn't work. Am currently re-installing everything on 2nd PC to see how it goes...
