UKT News about BW Subs ?

I aint gonna cut&paste the blab in UKTerrorist directly - I'll paraphrase it. Basically they say that BW is going subscription and that we get access to pub servers for another week... I've had a quick hunt around BW's websites and haven't really seen anything to back this up...

But anyways, if that is the case I'm gonna be a cheapskate and pass BW over. :|

Guess I know what the forum account changes were about now at least. Confused the heck outta me that did. I'm from the "If it ain't broke don't fix it" school.

So *if* i'm denied access in future, been nice playing with you, ggs and I'll miss accusing you all of hacking muchly. I'll miss blowing Tom's head off with M3 especially. :)

Yes i know its a shame that your gonna have to pay to play, but, if it keeps idiots away who TK / Cheat then im for it, im just thinkin how im gonna pay fo it, may have to use Cheque

I aren't happy, BW has been my home and I've never liked playing anywhere else, are you gonna pay then Gray?

They are gonna have to improve their servers tbh, unless they think that less peeps will be playing so that will improve the ping, b00b e-mailed me the full details but I can't be arsed right now, so can anyone tell me if its just CS that they are charging for or is it every game?

I want to see the terms and conditions. There has to be some kind of undertaking that if the service isn't up to scratch, we will be rewarded in some fashion.

I'd quite happily pay, I think £24 a year is an absolute bargain. Only Philanthropists can afford to run servers for free, and how many of those do you find in a commercial environment?

I was hoping more people from this forum would aswell as you guys are the only real reason I play on BW along with the people I have met (so to speak) playing CS.

Auch well.

I've played here long enough and I can afford the £12.

Also with reduced amount of cheats/TKers/kids callin me n00b :)
it'll be a better place...let jolt and BY handle the increased no. of 0cheat0rs :)

I dont want to either, Im not happy with the way some things are organised around here, but im not playing cs on Jolt, oh god no :)

Skyler raised a number of useful points in his critiques of BW going P2P. Something that he mentioned was that many people will just go away and that because people leave their mates won't bother coughing up either. Knock on effects.

However a 3rd order effect is that the UK CS community as a whole will lose a venue for new clan recruits. These might be newbies learning of "da mastaz" or even "mastaz" who find themselves clanless at the time. I suspect that should the other big name pub servers go P2P the community as a whole will suffer - or just move out of the UK.

The problem with restricting access to the servers is that the community on the servers will tend to become isolated. There will be less cross-polination, the influx of newbies/mastaz will be significantly reduced and the captive community will stagnate. I doubt you'll recognise BW in 6 months time tbh. :rolleyes:

In the meantime I'm too cheap and the servers are pretty much unusable for me to the point where I play on a server across the frigging Atlantic because the service is better (for free). The admins are more entertaining too and wield the boot more freely - which is good, because they ban rarely too.

Lets face it - there's no point running over to Jolt when a couple of months down the line they'll do exactly the same thing (i.e. as soon as they realise that BW have made the first step down that road). And as for BY - well I'd like to see you try to get on to one of their servers once the BW/Jolt communities cheepskates have migrated over.

I don't have a problem with paying, but I do hope that this will mean improved Admin support and 'policing' of servers - if I'm going to pay for a service then I expect a better deal than the freebies.

I have only recently got the c.s.bug but from my little experience there are still too many cheats around and not enough admins (its why i'm keen to get in a clan cuz at least I die honest) so there needs to be a big improvement on the admin side.

£24 a year is fook all tbh but other places do seem to have more admins etc.

Perhaps BW can give some specific promises regarding H4x0R prevention.

There wont be as many....I doubt that many players will pay money when they risk their CDkeys being made unusable on BW...£24 down the chute.

There are the undetectable ones...but i dont worry about those too much as you usually need to be good to use them in the first instance.

I dunno leg, my view would be that if you pay then BW may become the mecca for serious gamers (undoubtedly what they want) and then hax0rs would prolly want to "test" themselves against the best players. And your Wonid is only £5-£10 weighed against the "buzz" these lam0rs get from cheatin. M00.

you could be right...but i doubt the majority of cheatswould happily waste that money when a lot of genuine peeps here wont even pay the subscription.

so there will always be a few arses..but nothin we cant handle ;)

Lester - you're spiralling down the paranoid route - lets view this as a positive step forward to clearing out the majority of cheats.

No doubt in 12 months time when public servers as we know them have disappeared, the influx of cheats will resurface, but lets just bask in the thought that we might be able to play more cheat-free games under this subscription service.

Itchy I'm not paranoid they ARE out to get me :) . I wasn't being negative m8 just sayin that the service is not good enough - i mean the effort you have go thru to get a cheater caught is crazy. Most times you just leave or get on with it - I like the idea of reserved slots.

It's early days for me really, so maybe there are not as many ogc boys as i think - I'm just cack!
