Other than FreddysHouse, do you guys recon that there are any "good" UK Gaming sites out there anymore?

Unless its a gaming-network / guild website, I can't really think of anything, no. I would also be interested to know of any.

Fileplay is still around as part of multiplay's gaming network. There's a UK version of the Gamespot site and Gamesradar has got alot better recently but the site is a bit flashy and in your face for my taste. My clan (Total Oblivion) is trying to get one going but its getting us to write articles on regular basis that is holding us back.

Really? Thats a name I've not seen about for a very long time. I remember a friend and I playing on Wireplay during the great dial up internet days (high ping please! :p )

Wireplay's got no content. Gamespot and Gamesradar aren't what I'd consider UK tbh. This is sort of where I was getting to myself. I'm finding it hard to find anything "UK" that isn't just empty/dead :(

Gamesradar is definitely UK. Its Future Publishing. And there's Eurogamer and escapist as well (worth it for Zero Punctuation).

Eurogamer generally has good writing, but the reviews themselves... ugh. Scores that don't match the review text, review text that doesn't describe the game, sometimes they barely play the game.

Their Demon's Souls review (Demon's Souls Review | PS3 | Eurogamer) was spot on, though it wasn't by a staff writer.

MYstIC G, didn't get to speak to the guys at work (Games Marketing) but most of the sites we communicate to are outside of the UK it seems, from looking at the list of sites we speak to (Eurogamer etc)

Perhaps Freddyshouse could move in to that market? :)

Well this isn't about FH so much, just my own curiosity of what's happened. There used to be plenty of sites to choose from before but everything now seems to have fizzled out quite a lot. If you could ask though Dreamor I'd be quite intrigued.

Another vote for RPS - I'm surprised you don't already follow it, assuming of course you don't already follow it.

ntsc-uk and eurogamer and to some xtent avf, bitech are about it for the uk, theres kotaku but thats usa based i think but covers rest of the world more. alot of other sites frm back in the day are now corprate owned and the reviewers of games/hardware seem to "toe the line" alot more. and the fact there are some totaly anal moderators on soem gaming or hardware related forums

tho i have been thinking alot of doing what i did on bw gather links to what i think is ok or worthy of reading ( ot what peeps pm me on irc) and slap it on the news page with all its typ0 glory. tho then i realise its almost 3am i needs to be awake by 6, old habits ide hard :twak:

Heh.

I need Teedles to remind me what my rule ideas were, and to make the pictures I asked of him.

I'd search through my PMs myself, but I have 3884 in my inbox at the moment.

That's why e-mail is superior tbh. Chet, Teedles wants to play killing floor later tonight, I shall savage him. Hopefully he PM'd you.
