Tusk = insane dmg?

i have had the tusk for a while now and the damage it does seems insane compared to what some high lvls can do.
normally with the Amethyst style i can hit for about 160-170 damage but then 1 in 3 shots i can critical hit from anywhere between 70-120, is this normal? if i can critical hit like that more frequently that a procing weapon can proc is there any need in having a procing weapon? uke:

Well with a proccing weapon you get the chance to crit and proc. Also your damage depends on the con of what you are attacking. I have one shotted greens for over 500 damage in melee (hit, crit, proc and self damage buff) and I'm a cleric who can't spec in weapons.

I would like to know what con it was that you hit for 160-170 dam. Just that I can hit greys for between 400 to 170 greens 150-160 blues 130ish and yellows 113, orange 85 reds 70ish.
