Yeah, you must've missed that bit, no harm done but bid is not valid.

Reason it's done like this is that someone wanted to buy the item off us but we don't know what we should ask for it so we agreed on some price (500g in this case) and then put it on auction for few days and see if anyone offers more. If not, the original guy gets it. If someone offers more, then the original buyer can also join the auction normally.
