.. Is out soon..

I was majorly looking forward to this, as I thought this kind of game would satisfy all my multiplayer needs.

However, I then found out, according to one of the devs, that there is no splitscreen.. so no offline multiplayer.. so am no longer not that bothered..

Given, there is Live, but nothing beats gaming with several mates over.. I think they're alienating a whole lot of gamers.. Playing with mates over is what got me into console gaming in the first place.. I'd take it over Live any day.

Splitscreen - honestly, creating a compelling online multiplayer experience takes a lot of time. Splitscreen is something that we looked at, but getting that in meant cutting other aspects of the game that frankly, made a lot more sense to have. I hear you guys on this - I've enjoyed tons of splitscreen titles myself - but in development you often have to bite the bullet and make the best game you can.

Personally, I think that's a lot of bullshit.. and if that's how it was with the game, then I'm not too confident about either their ability as devs or the effort put into the rest of the game..

It still looks very nice, but I'm not sure I'll pick it up until the price goes down now..

/rant :)

Your thoughts? :x

My thoughts are split screen gaming is gone it was great back in the day but with LIVE i hate split screen in anyway shape or form.

Me and my GF started Gears on splitscreen and we hated it so much we went out and bought another copy.

Plus things like other players being able to see where you are always annoyed me.

Kane and Lynch forces you to co-op in split screen and its pretty crap to be fair and spoils it for me.

Turok gonna be fun though.

Alot of people have LIVE these days and their friends also have a 360/LIVE so thats why devs are not bothering with it anymore.

Well, a lot of people don't play on Live and a lot of people have friends without 360s.

Increasingly you can't even invite them over for a game.

And Gears split screen is shit because Gears is pretty shit.. that's why its not fun.

COD4 4 player split screen with my friends is absolutely awesome.

I see no reason why split screen is outdated in the slightest. It's great.

Have friends over more often, you will see.

Doing this they're alienating uni students and many people, especially folk sub 25 (i.e. kids, students, etc. with more free time) worldwide..

Is that because you're a propaganda agent from the benevolent uncle bill? :p Nothing is as satisfying as being in the same room as your mates and watching their expression as you crush them. Don't even try and mention that wanky xbox camera either!

PS: Am I the only person alive that really didn't think much of Turok... well at all, ever?

I share a PS3 with my brother. Should I buy a 2nd just to play games with him? Hell no.

It isn't just me. In spain, going to your mates house to play Fifa/Pro Evo is the basic gaming culture. Same all over europe with games like Buzz and Singstar. It's quite nice to think that gaming is something we can really share with people, but in the end we'll all end up playing only with people we can't see as PC gamers have done for years :/

I've never played it.. I've not heard great things though, apart from one/two releases out of 4/5(?).

I just like the idea of taking on dinos, having deathmatches with friends, with raptors and T-rexes prowling around and attacking people at the same time - which is, apparently, in the game.

I think it would be a blast were they to put in some decent 'Survival', etc. missions where the four of you could take on either objectives or simply survive hordes of different dinos hunting you.. I've yet to really see something like this in a game, except for UT.

Supposedly they have some kind of coop missions, but I'm not sure if they'll be exactly like that.

Is just a shame us folk into that strange idea of playing with friends in person don't get a look in.

Hope it sucks :) ;)

Could do with another decent FPS 4 player offline shooter, atm all I have is COD4 (and Halo3, which is Ok).. is there anything else?

QFT. Its a massive shame its turning out this way.. I don't understand why personally..
Maybe its because I've played PC games online for years. This is my first console on a long time and the online doesn't match up to the PC.. Its not really what I was looking for when I picked up the console in the first place.

Crushing you at goldeneye and turok on the 64 was certainly fun :D

The first Turok on the n64 was okay, it was not great singleplayer, but really fun with some of the split screen MP modes. Remember where you turned into a raptor or something and basically played tag. Trying to jump and shoot your crossbow at the peak of your jump to get headshots was also fun.

Splitscreen gaming with your mates is good fun, seeing each others screen is part of the fun. You have to be that much better because you all know where each other is.

I don't mind football games because the screen isn't split and doesn't feel small.

I loved splitscreen back in the 90s because thats all we had pretty much but now i don't like sharing my screen :(

It's nothing special in my opinion. It feels like King kong.

It's stupid how the dino's are crouching out from everywhere :) and it's just about impossible to get killed.

Still though, it's probably the later parts of the game, with bigger dino's that's supposed to be the good part, so I won't write it off completly ;)

Have to say after playing through much of the game, I like it and knife mechanic never gets old, killing dinos in one blow is great, its like the chainsaw gun from GOW.

Though the weapons are pretty bog standard and not very Turok like, they are are good to use and get the job done. I like the graphics, a lot of people didn't like the them, but they really do suit the game.

The games no 'seeds of evil' but hopefully there will be a sequel and the franchise can get back to its roots and get better and better.

The only real niggles I had were, you can get lost easily on some levels especially when you get thrown off your feet by a dinosaur in the darker levels. Also the game doesn't seem to take full effect of surround sound or my system is on its way out, but it didn't sound like you were in a jungle.

The boss fights were quite fun and bring a sense of achievement when you finally kill them after bein eatin a few times.
