I used one of the early versions, 1 something, not bothered since then, and won't, I work pretty much exclusively in Nuendo for track creation, mostly using hardware, and occasionally a VST, harware samplers are so much nicer than software. I find the software that works around the 'block' metaphor too limiting with regards to drums in particular. Changes of tempo have always been a nightmare to sort out as well as signature changes.

I am very musical and have been from a young age (various instruments I can play, done a number of grades, music exams etc) so it's about time I gave myself a challenge :) However I dont wanna jump in too deep and go straight for reason. I have a copy of that however and will install it soon to have a look around.

But methinks Fruity Loops will be a good start as I've listened to a few tunes people have made with it and I'm quite impressed with the end results.. seems you can do some nice bits n pieces with it for simpleish but effective tunes :D

The program itself can be found on p2p, easy peasy. It's just that all the samples come on a CD iirc, and they amount to around 5-600mB :eek6:.

How expensive is the original now, anyway? If it's under £200 then it might just be worth saving for...
