Trying Mid

Hi, apologies if this should really be in the newbies topic.

I have several alts in Albion/Excalibur but I have been recommended to try Midgard so I was wondering what people think is a good race/class to try as a starter.

If you already have chars on albion, you pretty much know how the game mechanics work.

If you want a class to explore and learn midgard with, I would suggest you go for either a skald or a runemaster, both are fairly easy to both solo and get into groups, and they have run spells/song which make travelling alot easier.

If you are looking for a more support char, healer is great at both healing, has good buffing and crowd control. Shaman also has healing and crowd control, but it is far less than a healer, shamen get a great buffline and the cave line is very great if you wanna deal damage rather than take care of groupmembers.

Spiritmaster is also a nice class, probably one of the easiests to level, both solo and in groups.

Berserker is the best damage dealing tank, warrior the best defensive tank (especially kobolds), thanes are kinda like skalds, but substitute the powerfull battlesong line for a decent stormcalling line and shield spec.

Think that about covers all but stealthers, where you have your hunter or shadowblade, they are both nice for endgame RvR in each their way, but they are hard to level and since there are especially alot of shadowblades it can be hard to get groups.

I would still recommend what I did at first tho, try a runemaster or a skald if you wanna learn the realm and at the same time have a decent class to play.

I came from Alb/Excal to here and it take a bit of getting used to, evening be experianced in DAOC does not mean your find it easy in a new realm, for one you have no friends, no money and no items like starting fresh.

Lucky for me i did know some old buddies form Albion who have helped me alot in getting started, and to my suprise this server is a hell of a lot more friendly than Excal/Alb.

I went Berserker and Shaman, using 2 PC, as i have an excellent tank well buffed with heals and always a rez.

Good luck in your travels, it might seem hard at first but stick with, playing these Mid characters has brought some fun back into to a game that was getting a little long in the tooth.

Not that i have neglected Albion i still have unfinished businness there.

atm the fad is to start a kobald warriors, so starting a seer should mean you have alot of tanks to lvl with in the coming months, on this though kobalds cast faster the trolls (shammies), and humans are the same over dwarfs (healers), although the others have more Hp,

Thanks for the comments so far. I think a Rune/Skaldmaster maybe the way to go as I want to explore and solo mainly.

I must add that I have no problem with Albion/Excalibur, I just felt like getting my money's worth out of the game by trying another realm and Mid was suggested over Hib by some other people.

Be nice if we could have 3 UK servers and more than 4 slots so we could try everything.

Well, you have the option of trying the 3rd realm on either the test server or the PvP server, but looking at population numbers I doubt we will get a new english, unless ofcourse some SI advertizing results in booming numbers of new players...

As for only 4 charslots; When Shrouded Isles is released, you will get 4 more charslots on your account, making it a total of 8 slots... But only if you buy the expansion...

Didn't think about that. I have an Albion character on Camlaan but I didn't like it too much.

Ooh didn't know that. Yes, I do plan to get SI. In fact, I shall also be buying a new pc next month so as to take full advantage of it. Yes - I am addicted!

I thought the 8 chars was in whether you had SI or not, but the patch it needs will be in in time for the expansion.
