Trouble connecting

OK, Im getting annoyed.

No matter what sever I connect to, I connect to it, get the servers message, then nothing.

it just waits untill it times out.

My Modem is still OK (External, I can see the up/down LED's flash every now and then)

I will be thankfull for ANY help.

have you tried typing retry in the console?

had a similar problem about a year ago when i had adsl, wouldn't connect to servers 1st time, i just had to wait for the server messages to stop then type in retry to get it to work, same for map changes as well

Any Error Messages?

Doesn't it work for any Servers (As in, BW, Jolt etc)

No Errors, It just...


...Times out. This is on ANY server.

Try adding "-noipx" without the speech marks to your command line. (ie, in the properties of your .exe target)

Other than that, try typing retry in console, it may work.

I'm having problems since 1.5 as well, I can connect to a game no probs, its the map change that is the problem, I have to type retry everytime and I often miss the pistol rounds, which sux balls:(

I notice it takes a shit load of time when connecting to a server (Maybe 30secs), also does so during Map Change, but luckily doesnt Time Out

Change cl_timeout to 60 ?!? That way even if it takes over 30seconds to change you wont disconnect.

I'm not sure it disconnects Ch3t, it just takes ages to load to the next map, I can wait for like 2 minutes before typing retry, it really is pissing me off, why would mine not load yet most other peoples do:(

Tremor I think theres a file for all them wierd sprays people have. When this gets very full it can slow down the connection when the map changes. Have a look in the CS stuff and see if you can find it, im betting thats the problem :) If it is just delete it all and all will be well.
personally I have my download_ingame set to 0, which does mean that I missed out on B00b's special Super Gray spray , but other than that it stops all these problems. also , you dont get that annoying "loading" line going on at the bottom of your screen all through the game.

My memory is a little fuzzy this morning, but custom.hpak rings a bell. It's in your cstrike folder.

Deleteing custom.hpk wont give you an error message, its not an essential file and CS makes a new one when needed. SOmething else is wrong with your system. I'd say you haven't been mantaining it very well :p

No, I just think hes deleted the wrong file by mistake.Never mind m8 we all do it ... :)

What do you mean Ch3t? I stroke my PC daily and I tell it that I love it at least 3 times a day, I deleted that custom.hpak thingy, it worked fine a minute before I deleted that then it didn't work after I deleted it, oh well will have to keep typing retry:( Bah best go pack the car up, stupid holiday's and she won't let me take me pc:( Cya all in a week.
