Hi I'm running Norton Internet Security 2002 ( firewall & AV)
recently ( last 3 weeks or so) norton has been alerting me to attempts made to connect to my PC using various Trojan's ( usaally wincrash , or back orifice ) I have scanned my pc using norton AV fully updated also with trends housecall and nortons online AV scanner, used AdAware and SwatIT , but can't detect any Trojans.....Is this just a case of norton alerting me to programs attempting to access the ports used by trojans or should I be afraid ?......I'm a very paranoid person when it comes to internet access so advice would be welcome :)

I dont think AntiVirus' can actually detect Trojans if i am correct? Also i think all they're doing is "scanning" you... which is why you;'re gettin told

you should be okay as long as you don't click "allow" in the firewall settings for any programs your not sure about...

norton doesnt give options to allow these things to connect ...just gives you a flashing exclamation mark over the norton firewall icon and keeps a count of number of attacks and most recent IP addresses........main reason it concerned me was that it only just started happening.

It sounds like people are just scanning your computer, Most likely to see if you have the clinent program running, And if norton doenst detect it, you probably dont. still, it's best to keep the firewall on its highest setting (If it has settings).

What Devil said. Its just people with the server version of a trojan using a port scanner on a range of IP addresses searching for open ports or a client trojan.

My firewall has intercepted 2145 attempts in 1 month.
