Or not. Went doctors on Monday to get some help in giving up smoking. Shes given me some patches and tomorrow(Friday 12th November) is my last day on the dream sticks.

This must be my 30th attempt at stopping so wish me luck.

Its all different now, I want to stop so my son doesn't get the fumes, and I want to stop because I stink.

Having this god awful bad throat may help as well.

I have sort of quit again, although the bloody nicrette micro tabs are most disgusting at the end, they do put off the craving.

Never tried the patches, and the bloody big 4mg lozenges are foul.

Good luck to you, I fully expect to be smoking like a chimney by the weekend unless the wife keeps nagging me, and continues not to smoke too

The smoking advice service say that the best combination of NRT to use for quitting is patches and the inhalator together. The theory is that the patch should curb the long term cravings and that the inhalator can act as a short term relief when you get a really bad craving, also the inhaltor compensates for the "hand to mouth" habit. Personally i have never smoked so im not sure how successful people have been with this method but i have heard it works..i guess it also depends on what suits you personally..
Anyway well done for having the courage to quit and good luck

My mum and dad quit years ago, just stopped together on one day, and never touched them again. I doubt they'd have been quite so successful if they hadn't quit together, so the only advice I can offer you is:

Tell everybody you know you're quitting, and give them permission to treat you like a twat if you fail.
