been a few threads about fave songs / artists recently.. and i notice lotsa peeps who like rock / metal posting stuff like.. its got no words.. or its just boom boom boom..

the *got no words* arguement falls down before its even got up.. must mean mozart and beethoven and all those other dudes are shite as well hehe.

now.. i like a bit of rock and metal myself as well.. so i cant understand how peeps who like metal cant appreciate a bit of well constructed trance.. its the energy i appreciate.. and metal and trance have shitloads of that :) it provokes an actual psysical response from u when listening to it.. head shaking.. bouncing.. etc..

think a lot of peeps here the crap being spewn forth from chavars cars and think thats trance.. its more likely to be erm.. hardcore.. even that is a stupid name for it coz its lightweight pap tbh.

if anyone reads this and is prepared to listen to a little bit of beautifully crafted trance.. some even have words.. i'll point u into the direction of the following tunes.. give it a chance :)

Hybrid - Finished Symphony
Phreeq - Fallin (Kuba mix)
Chicane v Power Circle - Offshore 97
Human Movement - Love Has Come Again
Agnelli and Nelson - Everyday (lange mix)

and for pure energy and full on bouncy!

Norman Bass - How U Like Bass (Taubert Mix)
Cosmic Gate - Exploration of Space (DJ Shredda mix)
Cosmic Gate - Raging Storm... this one is a dark brooding monster that lurks behind you and jumps on you when you least expect it.. been warned :)

anyhoo.. point is.. dont hear the bass going boom boom boom and dismiss it as crap.. well not all the time, give trance a chance :) hey that rhymes..

*Metal fan*

Techno/Trance = Happy 2b Harcore > All.

Recently 'brought' H2BH 5/6/2 I think... Haven't checked my PC MP3 list in a while.

Brixx etc.

Some 'The Prodigy' stuff is cool.[Though it's a mix]

hmm.. now that just makes me think.. why the hell would trance be on a compilation with hardcore in the title? i avoid hardcore like the fecking plague.. speeded up vocals (think scooter) and cheesy cover versions (heaven is a place on earth, take my breath away.. hundreds of them)..

and i think this is the mistake a lot of people are making as well.

trance kinda fills the void between prog house and hard house.. great example of a trance compilation in Ministry of Sound: Trance Nation 3.. best one i have heard anyhoo.. and not any mention of the word hardcore anywhere hehe :)

*Poke* Nothing on 'Happy 2b Hardcore' is a cover from what I've heard. But I've seen people cover them >.<

i only like instrumental music, tho i dont really 'mind' hearing trance somewhere soft in the background, the kind of trance that has a digital extremely high pitched girls voice in it gives me itchy knuckes and lowers my brain capacity by 50%

Thing is, rock is the complete music. It has a tune, it has a beat, it has lyrics, it has singing (metal stretches this at times... well, most times) it has instruments. Other genres, other than the sub-genres of rock, are never as complete. I'm not saying they're automatically crap because of that - but that is why I'll choose rock (mainly indie rock and punk rock) over anything else.

well by using that method..

beat: cant deny trance doent have that :) usually the first thing u notice
tune: its lurking in there somewhere.. thing is.. trance has massively long intros and outros (help dj's to get the beats right for when they in the mix)
lyrics: yeah.. lots doesnt have vocals.. but when it come to groups that stick Justine Suissa or Jan Johnston on vocals.. well now you talking. fantastically gifted singers.

i dont abide by the argument of.. oh they done know how to play instruments as a rule. got a lotta respec for peeps who can mind you.. but its surely the tune that matters. you do get your odd obssesive nutcase like Brian Transeau (BT) who spends 2-3 weeks on 5 secs of each track.. cant say he aint talented coz he uses computers to achieve his goals.

suppose the point i'm making is.. try those tracks listed above.. trance isnt all shite.. u may be pleasantly suprised. :)

i wasnt a metal / rock fan at all until i saw Alice Cooper in Newcastle.. cant get enough of it now.

I've heard trance, there's a trance/techno floor at one of the rock clubs I go to... not my thing... still, better than r'n'b/rap, although so is suicide.
