Trains - Are they acceptable in your area?

Next discussion and a mini-rant at the south eastern train service.

Right, I see my gf regularly every other day and I get the same train there (12:35pm one on a weekday, 12:37pm one on a weekend) each time. However, EIGHT times in a row this train has been DELAYED. Surely, over 8 delayed train times, you think they would have 'fixed' it but no. What's even more annoying is it is always delayed to roughly the SAME time. Why don't they just make the train arrival time for this time instead?

I also get delays on my school train, in the morning and afternoon on a roughly 20% ish chance. Then I get hit with a ticket for £2.30 (single) for four station journey.

Now my question is this, do you feel the train service costs reflect the reliability and respect you are given. Do your trains come on time? Heck, do your buses come on time? Is public transport shite? I feel buses have improved ALOT lately but trains are still as poor as ever.

/Discuss.

Delayed?

Sit down, have a cig, have a cup of coffee, make a phonecall, look at the nature, wonder at the marvel of human construction skills in your local railway station, imagine life without trains, smell the flowers..in a nutshell...

...learn to take a moment and not rush all the time.

Disclaimer: This from a person who waited an hour at the local bureu office, another at the hospital and 15 minutes for a subway that was delayed, happy as a daisy.

Only had one delay in a good nine months here in Belgium (every weekday to uni). Well and probably quite a few ten minute delays, but I don't mind those. I don't consider anything under 20 minutes as delay, I just read a book while waiting :).

There are two lines for me though, so if one's delayed I can just take the other one. Most of the time I have a look at both though and I don't think there've been many 20+ minute delays.

Because of buildings being fixed mate... I am from the dark side and even I know that :) ... You got the metro and that fecking rox ! Been in cph a few times last year and its a pleasure using the metro tbh... Awesome system.

I am perfectly happy with the trains, using them to get down to me GF and tbh if they are 3 or 5min late I don't care. Though I understand ppl using them every day to and from work might get pissed over it.

trains are fine around here, a bus into the "town" centre (its not a town, more a stain on the landscape) every 10 minutes.

Trains... don´t even get me started about trains.
I`m going to work by train every day for over 7 years now and the ammount of time I`m waiting for the f*cking train to arrive is incredible. One month when it was too annoying, I started writing down the delays (every delay of 10 minutes +.. everything below that didn´t make it). This month, I had an accumulated waiting time of 4 hours 50 minutes. That´s spread over 22 or 23 days iirc.

I get the bus daily around here, and the only time it is late is if there is an accident around here, cant speak for trains though.

I used to have exactly the same problem with buses in Leeds. Where I grew up in North Wales, we had two bus companies that ran the main routes to the nearest town. I used to get the bus to school every day for about 5 years. In that time there was only about 3 times that the bus was late or didn't turn up. One of those times was when the village was under 2 feet of snow. At this time it cost £1.05 for a return, and the journey to Bangor took twenty minutes and covered about 10 miles.

I then came to Leeds to go to Uni, and I was shocked at how poor and how expensive the buses were. Minimum charge was £1.40, (this has now gone up to £1.70) the buses although are supposedly more regular than the buses I was used to in North Wales are far less reliable. They are meant to be every 15 minutes on one route, and every 30 minutes on another, yet I have waited at bus stops for nearly an hour for any bus to turn up, and regularly wait 20 minutes. Buses no longer keep to the timetables at all, so if they are early they won't wait and leave at the allotted time, they just leave when the driver feels like it. The routes they run are being cut down every year, the drivers are unfriendly, spiteful and downright rude, and as First have bought out all the competition in Leeds, there is no alternative company I can use.

Since I have a car, I rarely use a bus now unless I really have to. Although I only live 4 miles from where I work, because of the retardedness of the bus system in Leeds, it would take me an hour and a half to get into work, while it takes me 15 minutes as it is. Many times it has been quicker to walk into town (2 miles away) than get a bus.

yes the metro is nice, never had any problems with it... but just doesnt help when the trains i need to take from home -> cph...
im in no way a regular train farer, normally its only once/twice per week at max ive needed to take the trains, but have been in cph almost daily for last two weeks at completely random times, and either ive just been very unlucky or what not, but ive been heading into alot of delayed trains, and yes i know about the stuff beeing build... just hope it will improve things at it is.

Buses around my area (north swe, countryside :D ) is fkn horrible aswell. The delay I can accept, but the biggest problem for me was that alot of times the driver didn't stop at the spot where I was supposed to get off.
Had lots of arguing with the company but it never got any better. So glad when I got my drivers license and could just give the finger to the buses instead. :p

And don't have to walk my 3 km to the busstop anymore either. \o/

I find our trains services ok for timing but the cost is ludicrous and they do not run enough of them so that at peaks times you are transported in conditions that it is illegal to carry animals in!

For me, public transport is something I strive to avoid...no matter where you are, you can guarantee that one or both ends of the line are chav-filled giro-towns. These vermin-spawn litter the rail carriages like grossly infested animal carcasses; spewing their stench and idiocy like the cheap Tesco-value lager they drink.

I'd prefer to sit in a pool of my own piss to be perfectly honest with you.

I always drive unless it's not a possibility or not practical.

I've had several problems with the metro :S but yea, it's generally nice when it's working, however it could use a few more destinations. Especially in Brønshøj, as we haven't got a train station :p

Our busses are alright, except when the ticket supervisors randomly decides to check our tickets, which means we aren't able to get off before they're gone :S
