Did this happen due to firefox asking you to choose a profile when logging in? If so, try the following:

Open start menu, choose execute*, browse for firefox and add -p at the end of the filename. In my case this meant: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"-p. Make sure to close firefox before you do so (ctrl+alt+del and end process, it might still be active without you knowing).

If this would happen again, just close the window where it asks you to choose a profile and end firefox in the ctr+alt+del window. If you start firefox again after you have ended it there, it shouldn't ask for your profile again.

If you lost your favorites due to another accident, then I'm sorry for my rambling .
