Tough choice to make

Some time this year I have to go in to the hospital for some major surgery. I suffer from scoliosis (one of many problems) and I have to make a choice about whether or not I should have it done or not. Of course there's a snag about having it done, and I really don't know what I should do. It comes down to these choices:

A) I have the surgery done and all the pain that I get from this problem will be gone, but I will lose a lot of my mobility and I have always prided myself on being able to get around easily.

B) I don't have the surgery done and I keep that mobility, but I have to suffer from the pain for the rest of my life. I have endured this pain already for many years.

I really don't know what I should do. No matter which one I choice I am screwed in some way.

seems like a support group

/personal oppinion mode

get some good cross breed cannabis indica x sativa. maybe 60% indica 40% sativa. so you have no pain, yet you dont feel totally stoned. so you will keep your mobility ;)

That is a handy option really, but personally I would go surgery, alot depends on how much mobility you lose as well though.

i would not have the surgery until the pain becomes unbearable, or is it a now or never thing?

The pain can be really bad now. Now is the best time to have it done.

How much lose of mobility are we talking?

(I have to / will face a similar problem if a few months time I think in terms of epilepsy.

Can either take the meds they give me and control them and be able to drive but affect my memory, or not take them and loose any hope of being allowed to drive.)

I should still be in walking capability, but it will be a drastic reduction in how I can walk. My mobility isn't that great to begin with.

The moment I can nolonger do the things I enjoy, I wouldn't want to be around anymore. So yes, I'd choose mobility over pain.

Hmm tough decision, i'd do what you think is right. But think through the decision you make fully before you do, nothing would suck more than you doing something or not doing something then regreting it down the line.

Also i'd look at it in terms of what you will gain rather than loose.

For those that want to know. Firstly they will untether my spinal chord. That is meant to be a rather routine operation. When I recover from that they will end up stretching and fusing over half of my spine rigid. The second one is a mammoth operation.

Dunno much about your pain. My fucked up knee is probably nothing compared to it but this surgery sounds devastating.
I don't know how old you are either but going by the speed new technologies and technics develop in human medicine personaly I would delay that operation as long as possible.
