Ironically, everyone slates Tom for being an Intel fanboy, but he used to kiss AMD's ass for years. Basically he'll just pimp himself out to whoever's winning the speed race at the time, in an attempt to get free kit.

The article wasn't actually written by him, but his site's been so full of shit for so long that I never paid any attention to it anyway.

He's not alone either - [H]ardOCP blatantly skew their performace graphs as well. The only tech site I actually read any more is Anandtech, because it's the only one that seems to have unbiased info any more.

I remember the days he would slate 3dfx over their voodoo cards, his championing of nVidia was largely because of the overhype given to the Voodoo 3. 3dfx actually refused to send him any more samples hence rubbing salt in the wound, back in those days the shoe was on the other foot as it were. Nevertheless, Tom _was_ right about 3dfx and the downfall of the rather crappy Voodoo 4/5 series proved his point.

As has been said, Tom went corporate and a lot of the stuff is not actually written by him, the website is now good for reference but useless for opinion and news. In his halcyon days he was quite innovative, showing how to unlock CPUs and such, although he was often derided he was usually right.

Hmmm who do I believe? Tom, who is apparently biased for telling you to buy the fastest stuff, or some jew from AMDZone, the guy who apparently thinks there's been some photochopping. I just had a cracking shit. Started off with some cracking noxious gasses (the satisying loud bassy ones), proceeded to produce some fairly large but solid logs and had a clean ring after the second wipe. Most fun I've had on the toilet in ages.
