What happened with the XML? Have GOA given up on it for the time being?

I know GOA consider it to be an extra which is unsupported, and quite a few people think of it as a huge e-penis thing - but I'd say it's fairly important. For some people it gives you an aim when trying to get #1 for LWRP for your class or your server. If you don't have anything to aim for then it gives you one less reason for playing the game.
