Am I the only one who thinks it looks crap, mostly looks like zoomed-in squashed grass.
And it makes my eyes hurt as it scrolls past while running, got mine set to original terrain, much nicer to look at though less defined, looks more natural to me.

If you've been getting sore eyes/headaches since TOA it's the terrain..trust me.

Think it has more to do with the hertz settings as ToA sets it to 60Hz i think? :p

i think the toa terrain looks better, but i run in windows mode so its still set at my refresh rate, instead of the 60 it tries to set it to.

Yeah fixed that straight away..I can see screens flicker at 85hz, my monitors getting held flat out at 120hz.

How did you fix 60hz problem, I used a 3rd party program to adjust refresh rates, but it seems to have fixed it permanently :)

Still annoys me though, turning down screen contrast has helped, but original terrain is still much easier on the eyes....and game runs smoother as well

got a ti4600

1600*1200 @ 85Hz works fine, no bad eyes after hours. :)

Well if you drop back to original it's still upgraded, most of it is actually the same as TOA, just the textures right underneath you are less defined.

I think the ToA terrain looks too nice ;)

It makes any buildings placed on it look way too artificial, like they were just dropped down on there... just my oppinion ;)

Your oppinion is wrong, In more ways than one :p

The ToA ground is uber nice though, you can really see the difference when running a TOA+SI client in windowed mode next to each other.

Yes, it does look nice, and if they had made all the other textures look nice it would have looked more fitting ;)

Shame they couldn't keep SI water though.
There's a GFX setting for that: you can choose TOA, SI or Classic. I like TOA water best, personally.

bah, i havent seen SI water or toa terrain due to my <sarcasm>wonderful</sarcasm> video card won't run either. toa using normal graphics still shows upgraded areas, such as stone on the hills of the CK in bg's, still, i hope to get a nice graphics card asap so i can see better water, toa with normal water is annoying...

as to the eyeache thing, have you got a tft monitor ? i found that it took me a while to adjust to the change (to toa with a tft monitor), everything seemed brighter or more vivid, nicer but also hard on the eyes for a while.

Mythic feedback form reader, 'erm, we're getting some complaints that the sky doesn't look very realistic.'

Mythic programmer, 'Hmm, well, we could add some nicer clouds, maybe a few birds flying over head, and make the sun look less cartoonish...'

Mythic boss, 'NO! THE TREES COME FIRST, THEY AREN'T BUSHY ENOUGH! ADD MORE VARIATIES, MAKE THEM SWAY IN THE WIND! TREES! TREEES!!!!'

/em suddenly wonders wether Mark Jacobs plays hibernia...

I wasn't joking when I said i'm genuinly stuck on it, getting all the main characters back together and then figuring out just how the hell i'm going to get them all to XXX for the finalie is tricky when you consider i'm trying to keep atleast a degree of realism (yes, there is Magic - but no, you can't travel from Gaplen > Odins Gate in 1day ;))

Such 3vil in my brain, its doing this on purpose! Stupid brain!!

<Hits his head>

Owww... head hurt.

Admitting you made a mistake is the first step in the healing process... now all we have to do is get you a couple of ST Respec stones ;)

What graphics card were you using? If Nvida there was a driver patch to stop it auto-resetting to 60Hz when it changed resolution.

Yes the sky is a bit out of date now isn't it :) the stars are a bit crap, we need constellations...
