Im just curious about what computer you got, if you suffer from lag etc.

Thanks in advance.

Started with an Athlon 1400 with 512MB and a Geforce3 TI - the 2nd client was VERY slow to load up - but usable for trading between accounts, or dare i say a buffbot (which I didnt use)

Now im on an Athlon 2400 and 1gb ram and its much better :) Ram is the key.

I tried to run a second account on my pc tonight which is a
1GHz Athalon win 98 SE OS.
512 meg SDRAM
30 gig hard drive and a GeForce 4 TI 4600
Got ADSL connection and i got the message saying there was already a Camelot Client running.

My question is how do you get 2 of them to run on the same PC ?

That can happen sometimes, Olgark. Just reboot your comp, log onto one account, alt+tab or windows key, log on the second.

Viola 2 accounts.

NOTE: You must have Shrouded Isles.

If you are running Win98 you must get both accounts to the asking for CD key screen before you do anything else (least that's what i have to do).

I'm running a 3.2 P4 HT enabled system with 9700 PRO and 512MB DDR400.

I can run two clients in full-screen with one of them on stick without any lag at all on either of the clients. This is mainly because of HT technology which basically gives you the same ability as running a dual CPU setup. This benefits multi-threaded programs, encoding a movie whilst playing a game or in this instance running two daoc clients at the same time.

I cant recall how many times this topic has occured in here.
You will never get a perfect lag free environment unless you have a duel proccy or a HT setup.
Windows will always assign maximum processing time to the active window by default.

Don't knock it! Gives me a chance to flaunt my system specs :(

i use Athlon 2200XP with 1gb DDR ram with a TI4800 128MB on a 1MB line and theres no lag

previously i ran a 850mhz with 1gb and the same card on a normal broadband line and there was still no lag

One tip i would have is if youve got XP and your runngin two accts to FP or anythign where u swap a lot or need to stick to each other

Go into the CTRL+ALT+DEL menu and select the two game.dll';s running and right click setting priority to low on both of them

this should resolve any lag problems between the two

ok i got two accounts now but still cant run them both at the same time. I have tried everything . I run SI in window mode and try to get the original client to run as well so i can switch between the two but it keeps telling me I have one already runing. Do I need another SI client to do this now ?

You cant run SI and Classic clients on the same machine without thirdparty programs such as Daox.
You will need to upgrade to SI to have this function.
A clever marketing technique by Mythic indeed :l

I guess getting a dual system with 2 P4 HT proc´s would be nice then ;)

I have managed to get both accounts logged on now but after 30 secs the game crashes on both accounts.

I am building a new PC anyway so this should not be a problem with the new one.

Wot happens when u give your current window lower priority than that /stick winder of yer buffbot of whatever? I cant test it cos i cant play daoc atm.

Also: im running a dell Inspiron 8200 i think, its got a 2.4gig p4 512uber crazy fast 800mhz ram forgot wot its called and i have to run one window in fullscreen and one in windowed to make it work decently, but i cant use /stick :(

Also i just noticed the PC in the PC lab in sitting in atm ahve 2 procs :D uber.

Depends on system specification, but will mainly give one or both acc's too little priority to run successfully - resulting in unplayable lag or linkdeads.

Dual setup or HT setup with loads of ram might be the only stuff I can come up with that could counter this problem flawlessly.

(Edit: Typos)

2x XP 2400+, 1GB ram, radeon 9800 pro.
Both accounts run at once with green FPS/lag etc. It's absolutely smooth, can stick them to each other etc. Lots of ram and either SMP or HT is the key. A decent gfx card helps a lot too - the radeon is noticably a lot better in SI areas than my gf4 was.

XP 2400, 512mb RAM, GF4 TI 440 128mb.
Main char, windowed, 1280-1024 Res, all settings medium
2nd char, windowed, 800-600 Res, all setting low/off

Works crap, got lag on either account unless the "bb" account has it's char stuck in F11 mode facing a wall on a deserted spot (ie. can't stick or cast spells or else it lags so badly it crashes/might crash)
Will try soon with 1024mb Ram. Also even running ye old winamp makes things worse.
