in the southampton echo it's say's the police arrived and confirmed the siting and another site had a quote from the the officer saying we saw the tiger and it was staring back at us

hehe that's great and they seemed to take it with good humour considering all the resources that were wasted...mind you if it had been a real one and they'd just gone 'yeah yeah whatev' and someone got et that's a bit less forgivable!

It reminds me of a great story my history tutor told us about when she was a little girl, her grandfather had hunting trophies all over his house and was prone to dozing off in the afternoon (after a few glasses of sherry possibly) anyway, her brothers took a tiger skin rug he had and draped it over a shrub in the garden and came running in yelling and creating merry hell 'Help help there's a tiger in the garden!!' to which the grandfather got up, grabbed his rifle and promtly went outside and shot his poor old tiger rug...again!

The conclusion to this story was something like the brothers ended up in hiding for a few hours then got a swift spanking for their troubles.
