I'm thinking of changing my palamino xp2000 133 fsb (which runs

at 55c under load which is too hot for my liking so I haven't bothered

o/cing)

Do the b core throughbred cpu's (xp1700, xp2100, xp2400) really eeasily overclock to

166FSB, does any1 have any experience of o/c them to 166FSB

Will I be able to even if I have standard zalman flower

cooler and silent case fans, or do I need more substantial cooling,

really want to max out my pc2700 ddr memory on my abit kx7.

The 1700 can overclock to 2400 speeds iirc... on air that is so may need more substantial then a zalman but i have no experiecne with them.

XP2400 o/c's fine for me on an A7N8X Deluxe @12 x 166 = 2GHz..

I have pushed it a bit higher, but prefer not to tempt fate ;)

I have not modified any voltage settings.

temperature reported by Asus Probe is 42°C, temp reported by the bios is the same.. and the temp reported by the diode through MBM is 47°C

and that the temps are under considerable load.

Ive got two 1700Xps overclocked to between 1800 and 2000 Mhz

The worst overclock Ive got is because my old PC100 ram is holding me back...

The other one is on a DDR2700 ram rig. Runs like a dream at 42C under load. I do have quite a few fans in my case though...

So it's a xp1900 (133FSB[default] x 12) oc'd to xp2400 , i'm not aware of throughbred version of that being available (unless you have unlocked the multiplier.

no, its a original 2400 pushed to an fsb of 333 in order to sync it with the ram.

166*2=333
133*2=266

12*166 = 2Ghz

I've clocked it higher to 166*13 = 2.16 GHZ.. seems stable, no temperature problems atm.

So my original XP2400 is running as a XP2700 with an fsb of 333.

can get it to post at 14x166, however it doesnt detect the drives \o/, and I do not like playing with voltages :)
