Throat Lump

Ive just actually took proper notice of a lump on my neck, i thought it was just a common spot but upon further inspection just now ive relised it isnt.

Seems to be just above the adams apple thing. Ive had this for a couple of days but what got me worrying just now is, ive been fighting myself off with a sore throat and i dont know if its serious... On monday im probably gonna phone docs up for appointment...

I read in the paper (forgive me ) about some young lass from the Soap Neighbours who had/has throat cancer too... which didnt help matters much

It's probably just a gland, which can get swollen if you are fighting off an infection (like a sore throat). That said, you have to go to the doctors to check it out.

Agreed, i've had a little lump like this too when i had a bad cold. Was just a swollen gland.

There is also Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, which is what my wife has, and its more or less the same thing, the lymph glands swell up, particularly in the neck, armpits and groin.

There are loads of glands in the neck area though, I had a strange case where one of my saliva glands got blocked and went rock hard, I woke up with what felt like a bit of lead in my jaw. The doctor said it is caused by the little holes inside the mouth getting blocked up, he offered to clean thm out with a small piece of wire, I politely declined.

I don't think its saliva glands though, not near the adam's apple, but as J.K.Damini says, its more likely to be a gland swelling to fight off infection.

I have a gland in my neck, just where the neckline meets the jawline but on the right-hand side. It swells up like a golfball quite regularly. Sometimes for a whole day. Can't eat fuck all. Can still drink tho It's very uncomfortable. I've seen two doctors about it and even went to casualty once when it was really bad. They just tell me "Oh yeh - it's a swollen gland, that can happen sometimes." I get no advice about why it's happening though or whether it will ever stop. It hasn't killed me so far though.

He-Man-style Moral : It probably won't kill you but SEE A DOCTOR ASAP just to be sure.

I had a lump in the back of my neck when I was sixteen, didn't go to the doctors for 12 months.

When I did, it was feking huge! (size of a mini kiev).

had to have minor surgery to get it removed so they could check it out, was just a fatty lump though.

my advice, go see the doc, get it checked, it will probably be nothing.
