Thoughts from a woodsman

Hello all,

Some recent leavers have left me quite sad.

When I was on one of my lengthy wanders the other day I actually thought to myself, what would happen if one of the officers/leaders of sotl left our fondest realm. But the thought quickly passed through my mind thinking it to be madness.

Before I have to head out, I would like to bring up a couple of points. If you are not enjoying playing then rather terminating you're a/c try just not playing for a couple of days maybe even a week if you have to, the bug to play will soon grab you or it does me. Heck I look forward to going to work cause I know I will miss things I enjoy doing and this game is one of them. Also perhaps try heading over to excal to either mid or hib which ever you are a wardrobe personality of, don't tell anyone (except close ingame friends) who you are and make new friends, seriously its quite refreshing.

Pyro has been in the game a heck of a long time, most of us were in nappies when he was 50 I think or just near it, I understand why he's going but to be honest it makes me quite upset, a superb leader who imo had no trace of arrogance and had a high set of morals <I salute you pyro>.

Things to look forward to:

PvP will roll out soon, we have the new spell crafting not to mention up an coming events tho work does throw a spanner in the works for me to attend these. Shrouded Isles looks superb.

This game still has alot of potential.... if you are in emain every night then you do need to change you're scenery you are going to get bored its bound to happen. Just change within the game not out of it. This game is still the only mmorpg to offer the rvr content and games on the horizon seem to be more geared towards sci-fi (neocron, earth and beyond, swg). Dragon Empires looks interesting for me but daoc has a solid grounding with me.

At the end of the day this costs £6 a month cheaper if you pay in bulk. Its decent entertainment for a price most people can afford to leave running or at least the goa accountants hope you think that ;-).

Good luck all keep positive.

Its sad to see people go, but to be honest i'm amazed that many of the people that have played 6hrs+ a day since launch made it this far before getting bored.

If I owned a packing factory i'd lurk DAoC and recruit all the lvl50 players as they are ideal potential employees. Can perform repetitive tasks for hours on end without getting bored.

Actually, i'd like like those people with a couple of lvl50 characters some questions:

1) Why do you spend so many hours of your life on DAoC?
2) Do you still enjoy the game?
3) Do you work in a packing factory?

1) The people, achieving goals (in that order).
2) No
3) No :p

1) Its a nice alternate reality a good mmorpg with updates coming down fast.

2) There is life after the treadmill and its great fun. Remember there are bad days and good days tho like in rl heh. Also a good thing to remember is when you hit 50 you are not the daddy and have to re-learn the game and adapt new ways of fighting/killing, plus you learn how to wage war.

3) No and never, never ever. I'd rather be re-born as a dung beetle. Bringing down huge monsters and enemies even time after time can be fun just depends on who you are with. Dont forget you can voluntarily play daoc once youre in a packing factory you're doomed hardly any breaks, on you're feet all day. Heck the army would be better more interesting just slightly more over bearing management with twice the pay and you get a gun. If Forrest can do it anyone can.

Basicly I have seen most things in daoc now, been there when we killed most mobs, gotten a lvl 50 char and gotten rr4
All there is left is rvr and it gets boring pretty fast.
I have tried to take a long break but the game just isnt interesting anymore

Well i am only level 45, and i played for a few hours a day, i recently had a 3 week "break" (moving house, starting college etc.) and for some reason i just dont want to come back to DaoC, the only reason i am thinking about is because i am paying for it.

Last night i nearly deleted all my characters and moved over to Hibernian, i decided to delete my level 24 Skald on Excal and move over to Excal/Hib, ive been thinking that to re-ignight my interest in the game i will either play on Excal/Hib, or make a char i havnt played before on Albion. And to be honest, neither sounds appealing.

Ive been playing Neverwinter nights recently and its been great fun. Im going to give DaoC another chance purely because it entertained me in the past, and i feel that it still has that potential.... Or is that only hoping? :)

Garian, I feel you should at least have a level 50 character before you decide to quit. The game is certainly different at level 50 -- lots more time for RvR, which is the centre piece of the game. Not as good as it could be, but certainly very enjoyable (usually).

50 sucks imo. RvR is either tedious, plain crap or (rarely) fun. Frankly the fun times come too rarely to make up for the rest. Crafting is plain dull.

Sure Danyan, that's why you are quitting. I enjoy the game more now than I did while I was levelling, so fully intend to stay and enjoy it some more. No one should decide to quit before reaching 50 at least IMO.

Ive been RvRing solidly for about 2 weeks (before i took a "break") I enjoyed it, but now its more of the same really, not very enjoyable... I dont think i will quit, more likely i will take a leave of absence for a while, and come back when i feel the need to :)
