Thought people might feel my pain on this one

Well I was trying to do the final step of CO5 last night and guess what, the servers got major lag spikes and eventualy crashed.

anyway think people here might enjoy the e-mail I sent em here it is

Hi, I was wondering how old the Comadore 64's that you use to run the servers of are.

See my problem is that I was trying to do the last cof step tonight, the aza whatever his name is, and trust me on this one this is REALLY hard to get a grp for, so imagine my surprise when a group turns up and says I can join ...... YAY so I joined Niros,Snajpa,Infer,Fizzer,Cilirs and Tegija (there was one other I tried to get this persons name but unfortunatly I cant get back on)

So anyway off we went on our way to kill Aza whatever and as we started to get close we started to get lag spikes, we almost wiped at legion but luckily for us a second grp came along behind us and helped out.

SO, we kill Legion and were in the instance. woot. but then (and this is the best part) GOA/Mythic, whoever the hell is responsible, decides that they are going to start streaming porn of the DAOC servers. yes porn of all things, thats all I can think it might have been because 3 from our grp ld'd (inside an instance dungeon I would like to add) and 3 from the other grp, I later found out, LD'd aswell. So the ones of us who ld'd get put back outside the dungeon we all get killed by Legion and our groups are left inside missing members and end up wiping.

SOOOOOOOOO heres the short and curlys of it ladies and gents. because you decided to stream porn or whatever you did 16 people didn't get a step that they've all been waiting to do for quite some time.

Have you noticed how not many people are playing DAOC anymore? do you perhaps think that it might have something to do with that fact that your servers have less chance of staying up then paris hiltons knickers?

I have to admit I've had my account for some time now and I am not impressed in the least, I hope to have something sorted out about this soon

Seriously, it's a game. If you lag uncontrollably, go do the dishes - help your wife/mother/housemate/whatever with the housework. Go clean the car. Do something worthwhile.

it can't have been a server problem if only 3 of the 8 from each group went LD tbh, else all of them would have... its more likely a router somewhere on the route to the servers which was playing up that caused a few people to go offline...

i can understand your problem with being so close to completing the quests when a problem caused your group to fail, but (i can't believe i'm saying this), is probably wasn't GoA's fault at all...

actually it was a server problem, in total out of the two groups 6 ppl ld'd and then shortly after that the server was down and no1 could connect, I do believe that qualifies as a server problem.

and yeah I wouldn't normally moan bout lag but this is a service I'm paying for and to be fair it's pretty kak

I have actually been waiting to do this step for 3 days now, I have spammed /gu and /as without luck and have spent the past 3 days pretty much sat in bromestone waiting for a group

Yes it screws up the work you've put in to get that far, wastes a portion of your evening and does an amazingly good job of demotivating people...

Gosh well i'm sure this email will sort that right out. Yes, having to read this pile of junk is certainly going to be more productive for the staff at GOA than actually trying to fix the problems. Now I think about it, you have a really valid point!

If I were a GM I'd use the whole "CoC applies to the use of the RightNow" tool and give ye 3 days for wasting time/being generally offensive

It wasn't a server problem. As has been said if it had been a server problem, everyone would have been affected and not random people from random groups. The servers were up and most people could connect to them. As you'll see if you look at the other threads on this page, there was a problem with routing in Europe last night and many people routing through London were redirected to Zurich, Geneva and Frankfurt. The service you were paying for with your DAoC subs was up and running fine the whole time. The service your ISP is paying for with routing across Europe was screwed.

In general uninformed and abusive RightNow replies are simply sent a form reply and set to solved. Very abusive ones earn you a suspension.
