I'm having some really nasty lag spikes right now, and went LD twice in 10 minutes.
Last time, when I tried to log on, it seemed to have problems finding the update server. So... What does it do? Yes, you already know about this one, it connects to the US update server, and of course promptly starts patching.
So here I am, with a nice and shiny version 1.61c of DAOC...
Right, time to re-install...

It really boggles the mind how this bug, because it must be concidered a a bug, can still be in???!!!???

INCOMPETENT IDIOTS!!

I fully agree with you here, so far as I can see it's a simple case of changing one line in the self-repair script to point to the euro servers and the problem is fixed.

This would have to be a mythic problem however, i don't think that goa has the ability to make changes like this, and we all know how well mythic are doing with the XML fix.

Come on guys, what are we paying you for?

so far as I know that won't work, suse the data file will point in the right direction, but the client will already be patched to 1.61 and you can't uninstall a patch.

it connects to patch server... server says what should be there
it checks what is there.... wrong version
it patches to the correct version

Make the .dat file a read only file and you'll never get that problem ever. All you have to do is check the box marked 'read only' on the properties window and it'll never bother you.

Edit your HOSTS file (Should be in the Windows dir or something like C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\) to make the IP for the US servers point to localhost.

doesnt help afaik, problem is that daoc just downloads a new update.dat
