I've got plans to work in Dubai for a couple of years to save up some money, whilst my application for Canadian permanent residency is processed (4 years, ouch!).

I'm only looking at working abroad for a while to broaden my horizons, but there's always the option to stay in Canada if it's a lot better.

As badly as the country treats us, I loyal to it and really quite firmly committed to staying here. Nurses aren't MUCH better paid or treated in any other country anyway....

say what ya will about it but its home aint it.
i could piss off to australia within a couple of years if i wanted, dad lives over there so it wouldnt be much trouble to get a visa and eventually citizenship if i wanted. however id still get the same shit over there just be nicer weather. infact its probably harder over there no NHS not sure if theres a pension scheme or not. ye englands aint brill but hey its there :)

grass is always greener on the other side till you get there and realise that even if you live there you can never really call it home :)

im all for tryin to make this country great again cos if i piss off itll just mean another spot for another bloody immigrant.

I wonder if he's seen real nurse uniforms, mates girlfriend is a nurse and it's the most unflattering uniform ever.

So a few years of living it up in Temple Bar till your liver gives out?

Its all coffee shops and sushi bars these days :( To me, the advantage of being a foreigner in somewhere like Ireland is that the government probably does a lot of the same shit that winds me up in England, but as a foreigner you don't care as much. Maybe we should all just swap countries and leave our governments in place :)

Grass is always greener on the other side, also the benefits of moving to another country are very situational.

In Ireland, writers don't have to pay tax.

Now that's an incentive.

It is not the uniform, it is the mental image of a slutty nurse, when you gaze upon a normal nurse. For all nurses must be slutty at some point *waves the good book in the air*

It's to do with the fact that some of them are the most selfless beings you'll ever come across. Sometimes selfless to the extent that they worry too much about others to realise that they too need caring for.

As for thinking naively? If you were to do that then there's only one thing I can say.

Men.

I moved here from SA 9 years or so ago...Wouldn't dream of going back or moving anywhere else.

Yes this country has its faults etc but I can't think of anywhere else I would prefer to go...

Very true :) The UK is still a very good place to live, despite it's many faults.

Personally, I think people have two choices: either do something to improve things, or just go. Sitting feeling bitter will never help you nor anyone else.

Kind regards

Well yeah, Eire has looked appealing to me for a number of years. I apply for my dual citizenship this year (Citizenship by descent, Grandfather was Irish) so that option is well and truly open for me, for when they screw this country up beyond recognition. Won't be long now :)

I have to say, moving to New Zealand was prob the best decision I've ever made. Yeah it's not for everyone, and there were times when we first arrived that it was very hard and homesickness hit quite badly. But as long as you focus on the reasons why you moved and not on what you left behind you soon get over it. We've been here now for 3 years, and there's no way I'd ever move back.

There's nothing like going down to the beach on Christmas Day for a swim (although a part of me misses the snow at Christmas and a proper Christmas dinner..... only a small part tho)

Well said mate. People complaining should possibly stop whining and fuck off somewhere else for a bit.
Then they can come back when they're old to abuse the National Health system, assuming of course they can be fitted in amongst all the other immegrants.

Me Ill stay and fight for the country we once had, for the time being at least.

moving to New Zealand

thought it was awesome when I was there in 2004. Very beautiful country, and a decent set of people living there (mostly). What's your line of work if I may ask?

I'm a pilot by trade, but I got residency under my parents ticket (little bit cheeky, but hey, if they want to give it to me :D) - my mother is a teacher and as that's on (or was on) the priority occupations list we got straight in.

I agree, the country itself is stunning and 99.9% of the people are friendly as.

Just today we were up flying around the Coromandel Peninsula doing a bit of dolphin and whale spotting off the coast.

aha I see. I'm an IT projects boffin, and they wanted nothing of me when I did the faux test in Te Papa.

Coromandel's amazing. Smashing to drive through, so I'm thinking it must also be beautiful from the sky. I must have a pic somewhere...yup, found it.

Excellent pic :D

Yeah, it's really nice to fly up and down the coast, stop off at Matarangi and Pauanui before heading down to Tauranga.

Flew up to 90 mile beach and North Cape the other day as well - that had some awesome views.
